I thought the OEM speakers were all 2ohm.

Same Power Output - 2Ω or 4Ω Configuration PDX amplifiers have the unique capability to deliver the same power output regardless of 2Ω and 4Ω loads. This provides the ultimate in system flexibility and subwoofer configuration diversity.

The above leads to confusion and leads people to make false conclusions. The manual (below) indicates that the amp cannot handle anything lower than 4ohms on the main 4 channels while the sub section can handle 2-4ohms.

Alpine Tech Support (1-800-832-4101) stated that the manual is incomplete: all outputs are 2-ohms stable and produce the same power at 2-4 ohms loads. It can also be bridged (ch1/2 and ch3/4) however, it its only stable down to 4 ohms while bridged.

Isnt there other options for the shallow mount subs?

http://www.crutchfield.com/g_520/Com...FShallow_Mount

I dont have my car yet but and getting my stereo stuff together. I like the idea of not taking trunk space and using the 8" subs underseat...but are they powerful enough? Also, never heard of the LC6i...i always replaced the HU - sounds like a good option. Let me know how it works out for you.
