128i Transmission (Engine) swaps
Bought a 128i project car knowing full well its limitations but with high mileage for just that reason. Planning on building this thing from the ground up with swaps and am looking for input on transmissions that will fit the N52 possibly. may wind up waiting for the motor to start to go and throw in a new motor and trans combo. Mainly just looking for input rn as I just bought the car.

The N52 motor, if treated reasonably, will last a very long time You'll never get more than maybe ¼ of your money back for a modded 128 Why not just get (altho too late now) a 135 and do simple mods on it? Many people do suspension, brakes, tires and driving schools before serious engine mods. |

Sorry guys posted this and kinda forgot about it. The original N52 should last for a decent little while but since I bought this car to be my absurd dream drift build My goal is 1 or 2J swap within the next few years I need to prepare the car to make that kinda power in the mean time. Wanted to leave this thread open as kind of a conversation in the background throughout this build and feel free to let any ideas go! I'll update with photos when i have a little more freetime.

"Soon" is relative word to use it's sitting at 228--- kms right now and I anticipate another 2-4 years of getting ready time until we start crate shopping.

I keep dreaming of a S85 V10 swap with 3.85 rear end from E9X chassis with a manual, but a DCT could work if you can code it in the little E82. the sound of the V10 is intoxicating... but then, prices of E6X with V10 are so reasonable these days, account for maintenance... for now, like one said, suspension and skill training is key.
