What do you guys use/recommend after your weekly wash ?
After washing the car, I like to finish the job with something like a detail spray or a spray wax. Something to nourish the paint in addition to bringing out the shine. I currently use Adams Detail spray, or an aerosol wax product named FW1. The FW1 does do a better job, but is more work, as it actually contains a wax. Note I am not looking to replace regular waxing (2 x a year with Adam's polishes - by hand, then Zymol liquid for the wax - also by hand) I've done a lot of research, but can't seem to determine if any of the spray waxes would be the right product for this kind of application. It has to be a simple and quick process. Some of the product reviews seem to indicate that it can take a bit of work to buff out the wax. I need to finish the post wash work in 5 minutes. I've looked a Meguiars, Mothers, Griots, Eagle, Sonax, Lucas, Zymol, Optimum and it's still not clear to me which of these meets the application I'm describing. I'd love to hear what others are using. Thanks !

I just bought some Lucas Oil Slick mist, and Surf City Hot Rod Detail spray. Both are polymers - not carnauba. Maybe one day I'll do a review of these vs FW1 vs Adams detail spray

This stuff is awesome. Not only does it look great, but it actually lasts for awhile.

My car is sealed with Menzerna's powerlock sealant and after I wash and dry the car I usually spray and wipe it down with Meguiars ultimate quick detail spray... as far as I know, it's just more polymer sealant... adds a bit of gloss and the car repels water like crazy. It works well and I'll keep using it until I run out, and then I'll probably go for something by Chemical Guys, or something else that the Detailed Image guys recommend.

After a wash, while wet, the Griot's Spray on Wax is even better than their "hands down" Speed Shine LOL. The Speed Shine will work, but the Spray on Wax is super, and adds the sacrifice barrier to the wax job you have done. Megs Quick Wax will do the same, but not last [IMHO after testing panels] as long. Great shine, beads well, but not last as long as Griots. 35 Oz, for 12.99 and with sales etc, its a great deal. I use the Speed Shine for that 2X a week once over re: a "spiff up". Bottom line for me? whatever helps keep my carnuba on and last longer.
Hey all: the heat we have this summer, depending upon where you are, likes to melt the wax you have on the car, and at night the dust just stays put in the cooling wax. I do California dust the car each day, but only because I have lots of sacrifice barriers to protect the wax. |
