I gave it a try, it's built like a poorly made kit car. First one the passenger door was broken and wouldn't open. Second one the key spun freely in the ignition. These were brand new cars. Far as I can tell the only reliable part of that car is going to be the Toyota engine, if you can get past the Lotus electronics between you and it. Dynamically it's awesome.

987 generation Cayman is also tempting. Supposedly Porsche left a lot on the table for the engine to keep it worse than the 911. And then there is always the 997 GT3 before they ruined it with the 991.

Nothing compares! I just ordered a new 2013 - should be here by early June. My son is buying my current car.

From what I read, the RS3 has not yet been confirmed for the US. However, we are getting the S3, which will be my next car in sedan form (info here: http://www.autoblog.com/2013/03/26/a...new-york-2013/). Depending how business goes, I also wouldn't mind the new Cayman S, gently used in a couple years.

There are just so many good cars to choose from in the past few years but I would either have to go with the CTS-V Wagon (6 spd) or find a Boss 302 since they're not made anymore.

I thought about the 1M but then sense hits me right in the face and reminds me that my 135i is 85% 1M: missing an LSD, suspension and wider arches. I'd have one if the prices were a little more fair but you can get a whole lot more car for that money or + a little extra.

None of the cars I have listed would be cheap to maintain on my own, which is what I like doing for fun rather than dodging expense so it's going to be expensive for me to change. It's one reason that I keep my 135i, that and the fact every time I drive it I have a lot of fun.

If I want to stop tuning my engines then I'd probably drop a level and go for:

Carrera 2s/4s
C350 Coupe
R8 V8
V8 M3 untouched
or...shoot me, the new Boxter S.

I'd probably just get a nice set of wheels for one these, maybe a drop and enjoy cruising around looking good.

IDK, maybe the 435i or 235i will do it for me but I'm still not sure how I feel about the N55 engine. I'd also wait 1-2yrs for the first of the batch of both to get all their recalls and issues revised.

The sad thing about it is a FBO N54 135i just about munches every fast car out there this side of supercar so it has to be mega or I need to hang up my racing hat.

Oh and no leases, my car has to be my car.
It's pretty impressive, no doubt. Defiantly not the poor mans Porsche anymore. At the same time though, all of Porsche's models have stepped it up.

A buddy of mine that drives a Cayman likes to say he already has a good woman, so he passed on the 911.

Really want a 997 Carrera S but its not as quick in a straight line as the 135i..
I have been feeling the inch for something more vintage instead...

The Caymans a good choice too. Not to many around, never drove one so i'm not sure of the performance, but it's a porsche lol so can't be horrible.

The only drawback with the Cayman is servicing. You need to put her up on a hoist to do most jobs.

2 gran coupe if it materializes

My son's gonna sell the 135i and EvoVIII and buy a Gt-R.

So in the not too distant future if any one wants to buy a stock 05 Evo or 09-135i, never modded nor abused, I'll let ya know when it gets closer.

If we don't end up keeping the 135 vert, we'll probably go for a Z4 35i

Probably not a BMW since NONE of the new and future models excite me (4 turbo, electric numb steering), purchasing my lease and probably keeping my 128i as long as it does not cost me an arm and a leg to maintain (had zero problem with this one). Only excitement for me so far : a new Corvette C7

M235i or M4 or ATS-V. If the ATS-V is 500hp/500tq, it's gonna be very appealing...

Edit: The lack of DCT may be a deal-breaker on the M235i. I need a robot assistant in many aspects of my life...most critical is making those wicked upshifts......

The explosions from the exhaust on upshifts at WOT was just giggle inducing

Still didn't like the interior that much....but, I could live with it for the rest of the package

As for a replacement for the 135......... I haven't a clue as yet. I will be keeping it for at least another 3 years minimum, maybe longer, as there's nothing from BMW on the horizon that is making me think about changing it.

Was the ride in the black the typical black series kidney abuse? C63 has always been a fun car to watch.

My list? It really depends on my values and wants in a few years.
Boxster s, spyder if they release another
991 carrera gts (you know it is coming)
cls63
M6 coupe....maybe vert. It is a silly, but sexy car in so many ways. Too bad the cls63 somehow outperforms it.

There is a crazy outside chance I might go land rover. I'd likely lose my mind not having something more nimble, though--hence the p cars.

This is a potential option for me as well for next car, but questionable for similar reasons. However, I'm getting on a bit, and sometimes do have the occasional undignified entry/exit from the 135, so the real possibility of needing a higher driving position car in 3/4 years time is quite high. The trouble is, here in the UK, that would mean having to own a diesel

Well as I see it, you should go big...motor that is! A big V8 will be a thing of the past soon, the BMW inline 6 is fantastic and because it is they will have that available forever.
I'd like to run a big euro V8 M3 or the C63 something along that line is the weapon of choice in my future I think.
