Mud Flaps. Yay or Nay?

Are they worth it?

also - sun shades? I might not get tinting since I may not want to get tinting (to interfere with remote)

I fitted them to my 135i and I like them. As it hides a bit of the tyre when seen from behind, it makes the car look even more "squat". Alos I don't so much dirt thown up the sides from the front wheels. They were really cheap too for BMW.

Yay.
I'm installing mine this week.

I too think they look good, they add a little extra to the width, especially from the rear. They look good.

Yay - I have all of the above.

Truth be told, I'm not the biggest fan of the rear window visor - it reduces my resolution of what is behind me (Is that a rack of lights on top of that Crown Vic?) and for that I think a tint is better. But I'll probably stick with it until that Crown Vic gives me a ticket ('cause I couldn't tell)

I agree with the mud flaps comment - they were inexpensive and I like the way they look.

Have Fun,
Rick

My mud flaps are laying on the coffee table waiting for the car to get to the house (tomorrow night). My vert is white and I like the looks of the matte black against the white. I also do not like dirt and rock dings from things thrown up by the tires.

I installed mine as well. They're not bad looking and makes me less worried about accidental rocks chipping the back side bumper from tire flings.

Very nice quality for the money. A must have if you leave in the snow belt that uses sand and gravel on the streets.

i have the side and rear sun visors, and the are great. I've had other 135 owners comment that they really like the look of them since they thought that the windows were tinted, until the looked really close. They fit seamlessly into the inside window frames and provide the sun blockage without blocking my view out. Expensive if you ask me but comparable to tint and you can take them out whenever you want.Make sure you dont dont buy them from the BMW site. Here is a better BMW part distributor who carries these visors but is about 20 % off the regular price. See link below:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=6218

(select the option drop down for side or rear, cost about $88 for each)

I have both the BMW sunshades and the mud flaps. Mud flaps very functional as our rockers are very vulnerable to chips given their design. The sun shades are also very cool looking and functional.

Mudflaps should be reserved for 18-wheelers, period! Or Russian Ladas made in the 70s!

Honestly I find they fugly on the 1-series, or any BMW for that matter. If you have a wider tire (e.g. 255) with an attractive/aggressive pattern there is nothing more muscular to see it from behind. A mudflap is pretty ridiculous, unless you enroll your 1-series in WRC events and race alongside Sebastien Loeb!!!

I got my 128i home yesterday. I reviewed the mud flap installation last night. They use mostly the existing fasteners which I consider a well engineered design. They also have tape to fasten them where they can't be screwed. I plan to wax the car first and then install them this weekend. Should have pictures on the car by Monday.

I also had a bit of dust of some kind behind the rear wheels on the area that would be protected by the mud flap after driving ~160 miles. I drove only on pavement.
