How hard do you drive your 1er?
Now that we all admitted how much we all love our cars, how hard do you drive it?
I did a donut the other day On ramp assaults are common, but other days I just take it easy and cruise. |

To and from work, I drive like everyone else.
On the weekends, just like everyone else. On the freeway on-ramps...

I'm in break-in, but enjoying the power even without WOT or 4K+ RPM. I've been running it through the revs in every gear though, and once it's broken in, I'll probably keep it between 2-3.5K RPM with 5,000-6,500 RPM shifts if I gun it.

Broke it in nicely..
Then two days ago this happened while doing a wheelspin: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=284216 Got it back today.. Gotta run in the new differential (was about +-$2500 but covered under warranty), but after that will be scared to drive it like I used to in fear of it happening again |

I am normally a pretty slow driver. Day-to-day I am under the speed limit more than I am over it. Long trips I usually make at 7mph over the speed limit (or 77 mph most typically). But I've noticed it's a little hard to drive my 128i vert that way. It seems to want a little exercise. The average mpg says I am getting 28 mpg so far so I am not pushing it very hard or very often. And it's hard not to go 10 mph or so over the posted ramp speed - just because I can.

A statement we have heard for years, even in movies, "With great power comes great responsibility!"
I usually drop the top and cruise. I use the power for getting out of sticky traffic situations, for the occasional hairpin turn, and of course to embarass the hell out of someone who "thinks" their car is sooooooooooo much faster/better than such a lowly little 1 Series BMW. Although, I do have to apologize to a driver of a heavily modded E39. He didn't even know what hit him when I ended up about 50 yards ahead of him after only 1/8 mile or so, and I didn't even turn off the compressor
