Transmission Mounts: Rogue Eng. vs E46 M3 and others

All,

I've dug through the archives and seen people install either the Rogue trans mounts or the E46 M3 mounts (and some UUC etc). I've narrowed down to either Rogue or E46 M3, looking for someone that might have had experience with both?

I think user wolfe had the E46 M3 and then was looking to go to Rogue? I'm concerned with adding NVH which the E46 M3 does a little based on the reviews (in the form of some clutch chatter and whine). Where do the Rogue mounts line up in comparison, more NVH or less?

Trying to preserve the DD / smooth OE NVH characteristics as much as possible while tightening up the shift feel. Car has 73K kms on it and is a 2010, so I'm sure some improvement is to be had given the rubber aging and the soft nature of the OEM mounts.

Any feedback appreciated, thanks.

I dont have experience but read that rogue doesn't add NVH because its rubber instead of ply and doesn't have the bolt going through. I am on the fence between the two as well, but i track my car alot, and already have my diff solid mounted with a lockdown bracket on the subframe, so i dont think the NVH will be noticeably different.

FWIW i think i will go Rogue , lol sounds funny... and I will report back once i do.

It sounds like your preference might lean you towards the E46 LMK what you do.

Thanks

Thanks - I'm still on the fence - I drove Andrey_GTA's car and he has the M3 mounts but a lot of other mods compared to my bone stock car so was hard to really isolate what the mounts are contributing vs other things. His feedback was that it was simply some gear whine and clutch chatter added....I'm just hesitant because of bad experiences with NVH after upgrading mounts in the past on previous cars. I remember at that time everyone saying "no added vibrations!" but then I got them on and it drove me crazy! Everyone has different tolerance levels I guess....

Have rogue, no extra NVH that I can detect. Gear shifts are solid every time, even when its cold out and I just started teh car.

I have E46 M3 transmission bushings. Go for it. A bit more chatter on take off so just give it a few more revs on take off (1.1k+ is sufficient).

Most NVH came from the solid subframe and diff bushings that were installed.

I have the e46m3 ones and they are right at the border for where i want them for a daily driver. I mainly got them to tighten the tranny up, but I later found out that the subframe bushings play a big part of that as well.

Thanks Chris - these things are so subjective hence my hesitation/questions. When you say right on the border, is it more noise (chatter etc) or vibration that is close to too much?

E46m3 for me added barely any NVH. I only notice it at a stop light in neutral and only with no music. Otherwise the shifts are more accurate by being tighter. I think RE should be slightly more noticeble.

Also has anyone added 335is transmission mounts? The result should be e46m3 like..

I actually meant transmission mounts from 335is
I recall they too got a unique PN just like the motor mount

Aha!
Which one is the upgraded/updated one on the 335is- left or right? And it works fine with N54, N55 & N52?

Just road noise in general went up a little. My brother noticed it too, and at the time I had no suspension mods nor did I change anything else. Now that I have race CPs and poly rear mounts I doubt I could hear the difference between these and stock

Just try the M3 version, they are cheap, easy to get and take 15 mins to install.

If you don't like them, take them out and toss them in the trash.
