Grinding Noise

Had this noise for about a month now. Getting louder (I think). Might because the windows are down. Any idea what this noise is? Almost sounds like a grinding of gears... Comes in spurts as well. It do the noise. Then stop for 5 seconds then repeat the noise.

Might have to turn the volume up to hear over the engine.

did you take it to the dealership?
your car is 11 it should still be under warranty

At the moment it doesn't seem to be causing serious issues. I've said something to BMW and they said they'll take a look when I have the vanos bolts replaced from the recall.
