CF Steering Wheel Trim Question

Hey everyone thanks for checking out the post. Anyways, Just recently bought a CF M3 steering wheel trim cover off of a fellow member on here and low and behold, it doesn't want to fit. The screw holes for the cf unit are bigger than the ones on the oem M-sport trim cover. At first I thought maybe the M3 wheel has bigger screws for this and I could just order them, but after checking on realoem I found they're the same as the 135 screws. So I went to a couple hardware stores to find bigger screws that might fit but found no such luck. Here is the link to the cover over at Schmiedmann

I attached a pic of what I'm talking about. The top cover is the M-Sport one and you can clearly tell the hole is smaller than the CF cover. Also I uploaded the steering wheel parts from realOEM and items 4&5 are the screws you need and they're the same.

I guess the question is any ideas? I was thinking maybe filling the holes with some type of silicone and just screwing into that? Let me know! Thanks.

Why not get some rubber o-rings and use that to "shim" up the holes. That should hold the cf cover to your steering wheel.

Silicone would work too... but it will be messier and it stinks until it cures.

I didn't think about the o-rings. I'll see if I can find some that size. Thanks dack!

I have an M3/1M trim piece on mine, the holes line up exactly the same. Likewise the M sport trim fits seamlessly on the M3/1M wheel.

Sounds like the manufacturer of your CF trim didn't have the correct thread size or tolerances. If o rings don't work you could get some drywall inserts for picture hanging and what not, then cut it to fit, and super glue it to your CF cover. In theory it should be a permanent fix.

Yeah I'm not entirely sure how the hole sizes are different but oh well. I just filled the holes with epoxy and drilled out new holes. We'll see how long it lasts. Thanks for another idea though.
