what to do with "new" runflats?

I, like so many others, am considering replacing my runflats, in order to get a softer ride (also will get snow tires next winter ($$$!). My runflats only have 2200 miles on them. What do drivers do with their run flats with few miles on them, once they remove them? Is there a demand for these tires on Amazon, or anywhere else?

Sell them on craigslist.

People hunting for deals will likely pick them up, because there are a lot of people who don't even know the difference between a run flat and a non run flat.

Sell them on here! There are a lot of people that want OEM runflats either because they decided to keep them and need a new set at a discounted price since a new set is ~$1200 or people who have upcoming lease turn ins may buy them as well, especially if they ditched the runflats. If your car is leased you may want to hang onto them since BMW will charge you otherwise.

You may not have much luck on ebay, craigslist, etc. since we have pretty unique staggered sizes, especially the fronts.

I'm sure someone approaching lease turn-in would appreciate them.

Just drive with them: if you do like I did you will only put 9000 miles on the rear tires before they are too worn out (and I drive a 128i, not a 135i, I can only imagine)

I am replacing mine (with 7K miles on them) when the car comes out of storage in March. Going to hang on to them, and put them back on the car when I move on to something else in the future. I do think that I got dinged a little on my '09 trade-in last summer when I traded it in with non RFTs.

I actually quite like my runflats for the brief time I had them before putting snows on...and will likely stick with them as long as I can. contrary to popular belief....SOME people like myself actually like the stiff ride and handling with them on. you could just use them....unless you really do want a softer ride.

Not me

I won't be buying them. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. They really aren't that bad of a tire. But, man they sure don't wear very long and they're twice the cost. Kind of a double whammy. My wife hated them for driving in snow. I did however sipe and groove the rears with excellent success for the winter.

Sell them on eBay and ship them out via FedEx or UPS.

I agree - although I realize we are in the minority here

I didn't mind the Pirelli P-Zeros on my '09, even though I changed to Continental DW tires when they wore out. I have Goodyear NCTs on my '13, and I am not a fan. They will be coming off next month.

I did not really dislike my run flats until I replaced them with Michelin PSS. It is one of those things...until you switch you won't know what you are missing. It improved the ride and handling. It isn't that it makes the ride softer...it just softened some of the hard impacts. I found the run flats made a loud BANG right thru the dash board when going over expansion gaps, pot holes or manhole covers. The grip is better with the Michelins and the handling is improved.

Ya, +1 on that. Yes, it's a smoother and more compliant ride that actually feels like the tires adjust to the road itself as opposed to plow through it like a battering ram, but virtually every performance aspect is also improved as well. Better grip, shorter stopping distances, improved handling, and they last twice as long for almost half the price of the runflats.

But I will also say that the newer RE50A runflats they put on are MUCH better than the ones they put on there in 2008, so they aren't as bad as they used to be. For reference, I kept the stock runflats on my 2008 135i for the 2.5 years I had it, but switched to the PSS on my 2013 ASAP and am really happy I did.

I like the re050 run flats. But when time comes to replace them, I will get something with more grip. RE-11 most likely. Had them before, awesome grip on dry and wet.

i haven't felt any of that and i live in NYC! we have terrible roads. lol.

as i said before i really dig the runflats...they handle great, are very rigid during handling and i really like the 'rails' like feeling for handling.

Granted i know many of you have more experience with 135s and different tires....so when it comes time to replace it i will consider other tires----but the moment i am favouring putting on runflats again. FYI i drive 120 miles a day and do not plan on tracking the car or anything.....for me safety and feel are most important.

IEDEI...the safety of the run flats is a good reason to stay with them. If you like the handling and ride of them then you'll be happy with new run flats. The FEEL and handling improved with the switch to non- run flats for me. It wasn't just a small change...it was significant.
One thing...my run flats were the original ones that came with my 2009 135. Since then there has been a new generation of runflats released. I have heard they are better then the ones I had. My run flats were good tires...my PSS are better.
