Interior Trim Options
Hi All,
I've got the silver trim in my 135i (Not sure of the proper name, but have attached a picture). I'm currently looking at options of replacing it, as I find it a bit too bright. A couple of things I have considered (with questions): — I was going to attempt the carbon fibre wrap, but worried the un-even surface would cause problems, has anyone done this? — I priced up the BMW carbon replacement but at 2k + I just can't justify it. (Would prefer to spend that on a tune or better tyres). Does anyone have any other alternatives on where I could source another set of trim (even just a black or dark charcoal etc. would be fine). — Was considering having it painted matte black (has anyone done this?) I just didn't want it to look cheap or home-brew! Thank you! |

I had the flat silver, performance finish i think it was called.
I had it wrapped in a carbon finish by CarbonDemon... Went down this path rather then the BMW one as this was a matt carbon, not a gloss carbon... much easier on the eyes. Wrap cost me a little over 300 + 50 postage, from brisbane to sydney and back + 2 hours to assemble and disassemble at home... i have some pics sitting around somewhere... will post them up if you are interested.

I have seen them done with a thicker vinyl wrap that might cover the texture. Like a matching leather.
The carbon wrap I applied does have a slight texture, not sure if it would cover the current.

Before I got the car I looked at the diy's on the forums and decided this was going to be my first mod! It was because I had the old man's wood grain =Z
Anyways, I looked around for the material (not paint) and bought the adhesive (automotive and marine) from bunnings. Took me 2 hours in total because I had to wait for the glue to set just enough so that I could install it. |
