2011 128i iPhone recognition
Well no one I this forum stepped up to the task of welcoming a newcomer. Can't thank you all for that. I previously posted about the difficulty I had with my 138i base stereo not recognizing my iPhone with my USB connector. I bought a OEM USB adapter off ebay for about 11 dollars and everything is working fine.

I just got a '11 and when I use the standard apple cable I get nothing. Did iPod show up as an audio in option before, or just USB? I only have USB in and would love to hear if you did too for the phone to work with the new cable.

Also, I've had no problems with the BMW Y adaptor so you might want to buy one of those.

Hi Gweenie,
I'm having the same problem with my 2011 128i that I purchased a few days ago. I was able to use the lightning cable in a previous vehicle that I test drove and have since found out that I have the very base speaker system which is why the straight USB option hasn't worked. Can you post the link to the USB adapter you purchased? I'm having a hard time using the Y adapter because the audio quality is so bad! Thanks, |
