Ask your dealer if they can install it for you as a "PIA" -- no, that's not a pain-in-the-ass , but rather a "port installed accessory." There are many such options available as PIA- - I know the carbon fiber interior bits, CF mirror caps, CF rear spoiler, CF rear difuser, grilles, etc are available. I had my performance black grilles installed at the port. Anything installed there is also then covered by the same new car warranty and they will add the cost to your lease, if you are leasing it.

Hope that helps. Good luck, let us know what you find out.

Thanks Kouper. Got to call him anyway to get my production number. Damn I cannot wait two months for this car. Need it now.

Before placing my order, I went this past weekend and drove a 535 with m package. A 335 convertible and a z4 and they all seemed sluggish compared to my current car. That is why I chose to get another 1. I do not think I would go with anything else.

Just make sure that if you decide to get a spoiler and you dont have the bmw dealer order and do it when you decide to get one make sure you get it for the E88 (convertible) and not the E82 (coupe). A spoiler for the vert is a different part number and the trunk on the vert is slightly less rounded than the coupe. I ordered the performance spoiler for mine and a buddy here with a 1er vert really liked it and wanted one so he ordered one as well thinking it would fit and it didnt. The spoiler was too rounded to smppthly fit the vert trunk then we looked and realized that its actually a different part number for the vert one and that the shape of the trunks arent identical. Jus some good info man.

wow !!!! that looks really nice... Is that the carbon fiber spoiler and painted with the body color?

I talked to my Salesman. He said it would need to be installed at the dealership. He also mentioned to me that he had bought the part at BMW for his 3 series, painted and installed at his body shop, and then at turn in, BMW charged him for it. I then asked him about tints, if I have it installed somewhere other than BMW would they charged me at turn in. He said no. I just do not get it.

Again thank you for all your help.

One other question,

I've heard that many of the 135is cars didnt get certain items at the factory or port or wherever such as the 135is badge above the glove box... the stainless pedals... What should I expect to get/not get that was originally supposed to be part of the package? Also, I've read that its iPod ready. Is that true? Does that mean the radio is capable but I still have to buy the iPod cable? I'd like to listen to my iPod on the trip back from picking it up at the performance center so I'll need to order it ahead of time if it doesnt come with it.

I think some of the early 135is cars may not have had a badge and some of the carbon blacks didn't and may still currently not get the black side mirrors?

As for the stainless steel pedals, the DCT cars won't have them, but the manuals will.

Can't answer the ipod question cause I don't even own one, but am pretty sure it's ipod ready standard, the only question may be whether you stream it through bluetooth to play and I guess about the cord. I'll defer to the others on this one.

You can always just pop your music onto a flash drive or CD for the trip and go that route as a backup if you don't know the answer until you get the car.

The car comes with the iPod cord at no additional cost. I don't think you can do bluetooth streaming without BMW Assist. If there's a way, I haven't figured it out yet.

Thanks guys. I wonder why the online configuration shows the stainless pedals on either the DCT or the manual. If you switch the DCT to manual it adds a clutch pedal but both photos show stainless pedals. I haven't found a BMW employee that really knows anything about these cars much less mall details such as this.

Truuuuust me, I went back and forth with the dealer, West Coast Reps, and BMW NA showing them the press release, configurator, and pics of manual-equipped ones that were getting them to no avail. Eventually wasn't worth fighting anymore after they said they're only standard on the manuals.

I bitched, I mean, pleaded my case enough to get the dealer to just throw in the pedals for free and was just up to me on how to get them installed. So, they won't be on there, but you might be able to get your dealer to give you a set of the pedals as it's probably $100 cost to them, if that, and you can easily install them yourself. So plan in advance accordingly.

But yes, most dealers don't know much about the IS. If you find our thread in the photos section about Toreador delivered my 135is, you can see I have them on my DCT and glad I have 'em, even though they should have been there to begin with in my mind.

Yes it's carbon fiber underneath and painted alpine white to match the body color. Originally the body shop was supposed to leave a strip of carbon fiber exposed on the top but wound up painting it all an said they didn't understand what I asked for. Language barrier I guess. Otherwise color was matched great and fitment was perfect. I installed it myself. Was pretty easy.the original spoiler was a pain to remove but easy.

Looks great and there's no substitute for the real thing. I also agree, should have come on the IS with all the other performance parts.

Where did you end up buying it by the way? One of the forum sponsors? And you install yourself it looks like?

I'm jealous and one day I might do it, though I worry the parts will soon be hard to come by perhaps.

Thanks all!

Yes, I bought it from Reeves BMW, forum sponsor. Phil was awesome - best price I could find (no shipping), and just very responsive customer service.

Install only took a few minutes. There is a DIY by LeatherZ somewhere on this site.

First unscrew the screws. Then pull the thing off by pulling the tabs out from one side to the other.

Then put the new one on. Because the CF isn't as malleable as the rubber, the clips might not fit in perfectly. I stopped being gentle and gave it a good whack with my hand, and it fell into place. One clip might come undone, though, but it's all screwed into place from the bottom.

I was worried that CF wouldn't work with the black accents on the car. It does. And everyone says these things look better in person than pics; everyone is right. I'm happy with it.

Next problem - CF trunk spoiler? hmmmmm

mb,

That looks great! I debated having that installed at the port when they installed my performance black grilles, but the $1,800(?) list price made me re-think it! I also worried about CF with black and it looking like too much bling, but it looks great on yours. Hoping you beat that price by a fair bit...
