2018 Barrett-Jackson auto auction

We’re out in Arizona and have the ability to attend the Barrett-Jackson car auction every year. Saturday is arguably the biggest day of the event and I snapped a few pictures to share. There were a variety of fantastic cars this year, from classic europeans to resto-modded muscle cars.

One of my favorites was the 1952 Ferrari 212 Europa that went for just over $1 million USD (the first picture below). If you were in attendance as well and have pictures, feel free to add them!

Sweet - thanks for the photos ... been watching on TV.

BTW, feel free to send me any of the cars you photographed. I don't need to be greedy - any one of them will do.

is that a red Ford GT? I watched a bunch of it yesterday and tune in for the sale of the blue Ford GT. I believe it went for1, 500,000. Damn those things are beautiful.

I can’t figure out why people can watch golf for five hours, but my dumb ass will watch Barrett Jackson all day and night

There's an allure to it all, for sure! Being present when a big car gets auctioned off is an experience in and of itself

I believe the one from the GM Heritage Collection went for $100K - didn't see any others. And Ron Pratte's Ford GT did $2.5M for charity

Didn’t he throw another 50k towards the charity on top of that? Baller move!

Me, being a cynical jerk thought about the buyer writing off that 2.5M as a charitable donation on his taxes. He wrote the check directly to the Autism charity. He looked relatively “young” to be shelling out 2.5M for a car.....good for him.

I guess Pratte must have had too much change in his pockets.

B-J always lets the charities deal direct with the winning bidders. They've topped $100 million in charitable contributions that way. With seller's fees and a 10% fee from the buyers on "normal" deals, B-J is making plenty of money. They don't negotiate on the block like Mecum does.

Spot on assessment.

That GT was gorgeous though and I'm glad to see the funds go to charity. Wish I had gotten a picture of the car...it had carbon fiber wheels as well (not sure if that's a factory option or aftermarket).

Love watching Barrett Jackson. Especially the charity cars, the Vette auctioned for the Wounded Warrior Foundation raised 1.5 million! Great to see money going to good causes! Kudos to the buyer and Barrett Jackson 👍
