Hmmm, have a hard time believing vaseline will do anything to keep dust off the rim. Although, after I get back from buying a left-handed hammer and a board stretcher I might try that one.
In all seriousness......if we like the current stopping power and brake feel of the 1er we just have to live with it. On my daily driver e46 with CSL replica wheels (lots o spokes) I got sick of spending 40 minutes each weekend cleaning wheels. So I installed a set of Akebono low-dust Ceramic pads. Result - Much much less dust....like barely noticable dust. And the little bit that is on the wheels is the lighter ceramic color so it is not as obvious. The drawback - Ceramic pads don't have that nice crisp initial bite when you touch the brakes. However not to worry, they still have plenty of stopping power for emergency situations, but for everyday around down driving you just need to push the pedal a tiny bit further than before. |

I don't think anyone really likes brake dust, but good brakes create brake dust. I read somewhere that BMW's were downrated in a customer survey because they made too much brake dust. These people must be the same ones that worry more about the Roundel on the hood than what is under the hood.
