I'm taking it to 4k, I think I'm allowed, eh? that's enough to get the car going just fine.

Surprise surprise, I just found out that the runflats aren't horrible tires!
Quite allowed - can go up to 4,500 rpm. I did not drive long enough with the ZSP performance run flats, but the M3 Dunlop run flats I have now I am quite happy with (a little louder but all winters are).

119 kms in 24 hours - wow; I have 130 in one week (OK so my comute to work is 7 kms).

That's pretty restrained. I picked my car up on a Friday evening, and by Monday morning I had about 500km on the odo.

You see, I'm 800 kms a week plus or minus! Got really sick of the RWD last winter, even though it was fun for the first few months!

Hey Tom, I almost got nailed on the service road this morning!!!!

Where was the speed trap??? Sneaky bastards, I avoid the service road at all costs now. They really need to bump the limit up to 70km/hr like it is in Laval.

When they got me they had a tripod setup on the side of the road with those orange vests on so when I saw them from a distance I assumed they were maintance crew cutting the grass or something. They popped me from 200+ yards. Whatever happened to them being to lazy to get out of their car so you can see them from a mile away?

I do not have both child seats in my car (only a booster for my 4 year old). So on the weekends as a familly we use my wife's car. My 4 year old Audi had 32 k on the odometre. As for driving alone all the time on the weekend while the wife is home alone with both children...Not a good idea.

Well, in my case I only have 675 kms on mine and I have my car for 4 weeks already. Pretty restrained don't you think ?

The weather was keeping me from going out simply to drive the car. And since I don't work anymore .... I simply go get my boy at school and that's about 1.5 km away.

When I'll start practicing with my band a little more, I'll surely put more mileage on it

That was just over the rise past Jalbert. I was behind a red Echo or something (they're good for something!). They were doing the tripod thing too. They're getting sneaky.

What about hardwiring a V1 in Canada...would they ever find out? I'm not talking about so I can run at 210, I just don't want to get nailed at stupid traps like that or on my country roads at 90 in an 80 and so on!

Hmmm... might be worth looking into. Can't the cops detect them or something? Also I remember hearing from someone that a ticket for having a radar detector aside from being expensive is a really bad red flag for insurance premiums. I'm not sure if there's any truth to that.

They're getting to be almost as good as New York State cops.... I don't know how those guys do it but you don't see those guys until they're behind you with the lights on. One thing I saw not too long ago was an unmarked car on an overpass with the cop radar gunning cars passing underneath with marked cars waiting on the radio to pull people over. This was the Fenlon overpass just west of dorval circle on the 20. Sneaky sneaky! If the cop were willing to walk 50 yards rather then have his undercover-looking impala parked right next to him visible on the overpass he might have nailed me.

Cute bunnies! So much for the new car smell....

So did Jalbert pull the car out into the showroom while you were going the paperwork?

I like to change my wheels the night before the snow is coming!
Jack points are easy to find, a few inches behind the front wheels and in front of the rears you have a black plastic rectangle (Now that's a funny thing, they lifted it from the E46 but didn't provide the E90 with a jack - The E46 had one that fitted right in the middle of the rectangle).

This year I've gone with the dealer changing the tires and keeping them in storage. I still have to get rid of my E46's winter kit (Now try to sell a 3-wheel kit - The 4th tire got destroyed on April's fool day and its rim is slightly bent!), so space was becoming a factor.

They have nice wheel covers for the 16" wheels, almost look like mags!

Yeah, they're really getting horrid. And the problem with the BMW product is that it is so thrilling to drive it fast! It's as much fun as my old BMW K100RS was!! But it's also such an elegant and sexy ride that I really don't mind tooling at 110 as well...I guess the usual rules apply - speed only where you know you can, and don't speed in strange places or at night, use other dolts as your cover and be nice when you're pulled over

I think you're probably right...I would hate to find out the penalty for having a radar detector hardwired in my car!! * months in jail with Martha!!

Yah, well, they bunnies didn't stink it up, but I have to vacuum some shavings out of the back now. Should I have bought a touring?????

Actually I am very pleased that BMW chose to include the folding seats and the Cold Weather package for this car. It's moments like this that I'm grateful. Or maybe I should have bought a Touring??

Martin pulled the car in, of course (we went down to get it together), but since he had just delivered a 5 series, He had about 15 minutes to get everything done with me. I had to split to be back in Ste Lazare for 6:30. As it is we rushed the delivery and did the paperwork and I was about 8 minutes late (damn traffic at 6:30 on the 40???). Anyway, we got a few radio stations programmed and all that... there's too much in the car to cover in one sitting anyway. I've been reading the manuals the last couple of days and it's coming together now.

I went for a 20 minute drive last night along the Ste Polycarpe River Road, which is twisty and winding. Of course, last night was pitch black, but the adaptive headlights are so sweet...exactly why I had paid $500 extra for them!

I like the feel of the runflats...Mort from Tirerack said I could send back my regular M3s and get the DSSTs if I want....hmmmm, still thinking about that.

I found them, same as the E46, BMW makes that pretty easy (easier than the damn stock radio!!). I changed my own wheels last year as well. But I have a huge farm garage out here, plenty of room for all that stuff!

BMW doesn't want us xi owners to use steel wheels, so I have ordered some inexpensive and inoffensive looking alloys. But I may switch those AND my regular winter tires for RFTs and nicer looking Replicas...aaahh!!

Wolf, the bunnies in the car and the little girls in the car is why I can't get Lemon Leather!! (and it's too $$$ for me now!!!)

I agree, kids could serioulsy damage leather, not necessarily out of bad intention, it's just that kids are kids and like to play...!

I didn't know BMW didn't recommend steel rims on the xi, that's surprising...

Anyways, this is how they look on the sedan (Sorry for the lighting conditions, I was in a hurry and didn't check how the picture came up before tossing away the camera).
