First let me apologize if this is wayyy over-sized for anyone's screen, but I wanted to have stock tires vs. 275/35-18s vs. 285/30-18s displayed. I'm new to choosing different wheel and tire options as well as BMWs and wanted to know IF these wheels were built would 285/30-18s be A) a feasible option and B) a better choice since it wouldn't knock off the speedometer and provide additional width (even though there's a shorter sidewall)...

Thanks in advance for any input on this!

With the 5 link suspension on the rear of the 1er, you can fit massive tires in the rear, as long as you push the wheel in via higher offsets.

Using a 9.5" +60 rear wheel, we are on the money for fitment with a 275 wide tire. However, with a 285 I have to see it in person to see how well it will fit.

On the current 265/35/18 rear and 18x9.5 +43 there is minor rubbing at the fender, but..... LOTS of room at the strut to push the wheel in even further. At least 20mm worth.

I have the 1er back in the shop now so I'll be able to take some measurements to see exactly how much space we have back there.

Stay tuned....

Nice! Thanks for the work. What's the largest we can fit up front if we had the ability to choose the offset?
Some manafactuer's will make rims in any offset you want so it would be good to know maximum tire at all 4 corners.

Any updates. I want these wheels but not the headaches of making or hoping they fit.

Agreed. I am considering buying these for my summers, and turning the stockers into snow dogs.

I haven't test fitted everything. But to the best of my knowledge and my measurements.....

Front:
8.5" wide +40 is just about the highest offset you can do. You'll need camber plates to accomodate this wheel width. They camber plates will not only reduce the understeer, they will also give you more tire/fender clearance.

Rear:
9.5" wide +62 should be on point for a plug & play 265 wide tire (possibly a 275). Zero mods needed from my best estimation.

On "stock" fenders I think a 255 front and 275 rear is just about the largest you can go without having to do any major mods. Using this combo you will may have to do some minor rolling. I would say that this is an agressive fitment.

To recommend a "safe" fitment that should be 100% plug and play, I would venture to say 235 or 245 front, with a 265 rear will require ZERO mods (fender mods, splash gaurd mods, or camber mods).

Bernard - Looks beautiful! Any rubbing issues with the 225 front?

And some other good news.....

D-Force is looking to put this into production. They're getting all of their ducks in a row. So we're looking for the 1er specific wheels in Q4 2008!!!

That's great news since Q4 2008 isn't too far away. Are we talking early or late Q4 2008?

Did D-Force say which wheel model and/or colors would be available? Was it the Em-Power model?

Those questions are yet to be answered.

I'm hoping for the EmPower, but there are also many requests for the LTW5.

Mike, is there a way to add a second poll to this same thread?

Hope this wheel plays out soon! I am ready to buy.

I would use the 255 and 275 Hoosiers as the test tires then all the other tire manufactures in those same sizes should fit (seeing that Hoosiers tend to run the widest).

LTW5 is the style I like.

Any update? I'm in a position to buy and it'd be nice to know what kind of timeframe these are on so I know whether or not to start looking in to other options...

I spoke with the owner of D-Force and gave them my final recommendations. They have expressed a great deal of interest, but just haven't gotta a firm commitment from them as far as dates go.
