It may have something to do with the fact that I have yet to do the CDV delete mod but I actually find shifting and pulling away to be easier in M mode.

That said, I drive mostly surface roads with 35-45 mph limits on my daily commute and I'll often forget to press the M button when I pull out of the garage. So, I'll go with 30-40% of the time.

Nah, you confuse with the handle under the seat (mind your head, though - worse than 'the drone').

Easter Egg of the 1M: push the international Morse code distress signal (· · · — — — · · ·) on the turn indicator lever side button and the 1M goes into launch control mode.

Ditto for me.

I didn't press the M button on my 1M until the 1 year anniversary of my European Delivery.

This wasn't the plan initially. I just didn't press it during the run-in period (wanted to have the service done first). And when the car arrived in the States, I put winter tires on before reaching the required miles for my run-in service. Then I didn't want my first M button experience to be with winter tires on and by the time I got my summer tires back on, I was only a few months away from my anniversary date. By then I figured I'd make it a special occasion and just wait until the anniversary.

I use it pretty routinely now.

I have it turned on 99% of the time. I love the M tune part of the throttle. This is one thing the 1M has all it's own over say the Z4 i35is, or any other N54 or N55 engine.

I had an 07 335i with a MT before my 1M and I always disliked the long throttle. It may be just me but most cars today with wireless throttle positionors don't feel as linear or as direct as the old mechanical linkage.

I don't turn the DSC past M mode. M mode is a better drive than I am.

Default on for me. I'm a heel and toe junky and without the M mode on, the throttle action is too slow with too much travel, thus awkward to modulate braking smoothly with the disparity in pedal heights. Don't have a problem with city driving or in the rain. Never snows or gets icy here.

Gotta admit that, ever since I got the N55 + Akrapovic exhaust fun combo, I drive significantly less with M mode activated. As a matter of fact, in Akra's 'red mode' (valve opened), the sound in stock mode (i.e. M Mode deactivated) is slightly better when slowly climbing into higher revs (especially from 3000rpm onwards). Shut down the radio, open the windows a little bit and enjoy the 'orchestra' rumbling outside.

A bit of a tangent...

I had heard somewhere that fuel economy is better with M mode off. So, the other day I did a test on the highway. I did 10 km with it on, and 10 km with it off. Using the trip meter readout of econ, M mode off was 0.1 L/100km better than with on.
Highway is dead flat, constant wind.
For what its worth.
PS - I prefer the throttle feel of M mode on.

I rarely turn on M mode - not enough open road near where I am and once you get in traffic I find it too twitchy.

After the oil temperature settles at a comfortable 120 celsius, the M button gets depressed to unleash the beast within.

Driving the car with the M mode is easier. It is hectic but in a controlled madness kind of way.
