Grainy Noise in Audio, iPod doesn't always connect

Just 2 problems I wondered if anyone could shed light onto...

1. iPod isn't always recognized. Have to unplug and replug in a few times. Does anyone else have this problem? Would a software update fix it?

2. On some heavy rock songs I get a lot of grain and static from my front door speakers. I don't think it's the song or compression as they sound fine on my home computer. Is this a limitation of the speakers or the sound processor in the car?
