Difference in mass air sensors?
I installed the euro airbox on my US spec 128i. It came with the stock 130i mass air sensor. When I installed it I used the mass air sensor from the US spec air box because it's brand new, as is the car. Ever since I did, the car stumbles alittle around 3000 rpms in first and second under full throttle. The us spec mass air sensor has a different part number and is a different brand. Does it matter? Could having the wrong mass air sensor for the euro box make my car run worse? Btw it has a brand new filter. And I've ran 2 tanks of gas through it.

I haven't heard of this before, but id think it's worth swapping the sensors to see if it runs any better, Shouldn't take much time or effort. It could also be as simple as needing more time to adjust itself.

That could be the issue. I've read in the e90 threads that the euro mass air sensor won't work with the us spec ecu. Both sensors look the same but maybe calibrated different. Though I could have gotten bad gas. I buy my gas on post (military) and they have been known to get bad gas every once in a while.

I also just installed euro box. Everywhere it says to use the US MAF and not the Euro one. I've had no issues thus far. Just put it on though so I have no idea if it will happen to me.

I thought the MAF's in our cars shouldn't be touched? I mean unless you're already planning on changing it, then i suppose cleaning it would be worth a shot.

I think it's bad gas. It got a lot worse after a full up. It wasn't as bad today. I did the throttle reset ( don't think it did anything) and checked all of my connections. Gonna run some fuel treatment through it and see if that helps. Maybe I'm just getting use to how it drives and I'm noticing little flat spots in the torque curve. Who knows. I just wanted to check with the community.
