So anyone with the new icon have a 6 speed manual? I am just wondering if the new icon is only for those with the auto?

I just had my software updated and the car feels a lot smoother especially between gear changes! I also replaced the RunFlats (Hankook V12) with those 2 things being done the car feels so much nicer!

I know you guys have a N55 and I have a N54 but... one thing I noticed after my SW update was the engine idle's a lot lower than before. I'd say 600 rpms when warm post SW update. 750 before the SW update. IF you have the latest SW update you should have the new DSC icon when its turned off.
As you all know I am not a fan of the SW update on my N54 since it gutted the performance. I also know most guys with a N55 seem to love the SW update. |

I forgot about this thread. Just wanted to post that over on n54tech.com we determined that you do not have to have the new icon to have the new DME. The components are seperate. I have the newest DME, but still have the old logo.

I would like to see how many of you can force BMW Not to do the SW update. If you take it in for any reason, they will update it.

Ok, count me as #1. I have declined every possible update since I purchased my car in July last year, successfully, and still running like a beast 23k miles later.

Your car has been in for service and they did not do the SW update because you told them not to do it? As far I know, this has been the only update on the 2011 135i. What other updates have there been?

I don't see the difficulty in declining them? I had already heard about the negative reviews of the update so I simply told them I didn't want it done. |

I was incorrect. I assumed BMW would force you to do it. My car doesn't run bad, but I took off my JB3 and that made a huge difference in performance. My SA told me to take it off before I brought it in.

No problem. That's what this board is for...to provide feedback and help others. I had no difficulty in declining and neither should you. I think they only force anything that's considered "security/safety" related, which is not the case of these updates. But yes, it is a great idea for you to take off anything that alters the performance of your car while it's at the dealer if you value your manufacturer warranty at all.

Just to be clear... it looks like BMW's latest SW update impacts negatively on N55 and N54 performance. I would not have it done - IF you can decline the update. |

Posts 33-42 are my situation specifically, but Terry show the map 6 test here with JB3 stage 1: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=608 My curve was very similar, and my stage 1 at +5 PSI was strong as hell.

Thanks for those links. So you can only tell by the shape of the graph curve. Surely there must be a way to read the BMW DME SW version. ? I just bought a BT scan tool... but I do not see any SW version. Just in one screen for the DME... but the version number is just blank. That might be bc I have a German SW tune based on the latest BMW SW update. You wouldn't know exactlt where BMW puts that info would you? Or point me to a page on BavarianTech's website? TIA Dackel |

I'm not 100%, but I thought if you just take your keyfob to a BMW dealer they can tell you DME version right off of that? I don't have a BT scanner, only had the CAN tool from BMS
