I still got vouchers for the Munich plant tour, as I missed it when picking up my car due to several train-fail... its supposedly quite interesting, but I have no clue when to do it...

LeipzigWerk is pretty cool. Its BMW's most modern and advanced factory. Plus they are building like crazy right now to meet the production start of the new i3 and i8. BMW builds the X1, e82, e88, and F20 at Leipzig. The tour is about 2.5 hours long and you walk almost 3kms. It is worth while.
I have not been to Regensburg Werk, but it should also be pretty cool. They make the F30, F20, F21, F10(5er), F11 and e9x M3's there. The Munich factory was kind of dissapointing to me, it was a very old factory and quite cramped and dark. For sure space is a issue there. While at their other factories they just expand outwards. I don't know IF you can take kids on a factory tour. I never saw any kinds when I went on my many tours. I would recommend visiting the BMW Welt on the last weekend of every month... they have a special "family tag"(day) in which they set up special events for kids. Kid bike races, mountain climbing, drawing on real cars! Lots of cool things. This weekend is the next one! Looks like they will have a special Halloween Event this weekend at the Welt! Always on the first and last weekend of the month... the Welt does something special for families. http://www.bmw-welt.com/en/events/fa...ay_121028.html Dackel

Leipzig plant tour...
For LeipzigWerk, I just sent them an email in English. They have tours in English and German. As long as they have a big enough group(at least six people), they only charge a few euros(~6) per person for the tour. IF they have to make a "special" tour for you, I think the charge was 130 euros. This seems to be the norm at many German car factories - for special tours.
http://www.bmw-besuchen.com/en/leipz...x-leipzig.html You can arrange a Leipzig tour here... (just fill in the boxes) http://www.bmw-besuchen.com/en/request I would just schedule an English tour on a regular date they hold them. Usually M-F either early in the morning or in the afternoon. The normal price is like eight euros I think, per person. It also looks like they do special tours for small children up to the age of 14 yrs. This might be another option for you. All of bmw car factory tours... http://www.bmw-besuchen.com/en/infor...formation.html Leipzig is really a beautiful city. Very old school charm. I stayed at Motel-One.de for very little money ~59 pp. But there are also some big name hotels in the inner city as well. The BMW factory is quick 12 minute drive from downtown. Dackel

WHOA!!!!!!! Hold on. I went as a guest of ///MFlight back in 2009 when my neighbor was part of the club and asked me to go with him. As far as I know it was coordinated by Pentagon Car Sales.

When would be a good time to go? I think we need to do it during the week. I will send them an email asking how the tour works. But I would like to have some guys ready to jump aboard this once it gets green lighted. I'm thinking mid December time frame.

Most tours are held Monday thru Friday. Any thoughts on what day to have the tour? I was thinking on a Monday so some of us could use Sunday to drive down to the factory and stay over night somewhere. We could have a groupe of us at some nice German hotel - IF there is enough interest. I would serious love to go visit their Motorsports Dept. It would be also cool to see the regular factory too.

Depending on the date I would be interested, possibly +1.
I have alternating Fridays off but with a 3.5 hour drive to Regensburg a Monday tour does make more sense.

I vote for a morning tour so those of us who need to can hit the road and be ready for work on Tuesday.
