gonna have to change the sig soon...

Ordered a 330xi today.

Was haggle free, though I wasn't trying too hard, and I am happy given some of the quotes I originally got. They showed me MSRP and invoice for the options I wanted, and said they would do $x over invoice + $195 doc fee + $300 MACO. I countered with a lower $x and said we wanted a BMW Puppy thrown in too , and they accepted.

Anyway, 2006 330xi 6MT, SG/Terra, Premium, Sport, Cold, Comfort, PDC, Satellite Radio

They said they would email me the production slot on Monday, they are expecting my order to occupy one of the mid-May 330xi slots. My saleslady commented that there are a lot of 330i slots available in early May, and some 325xi slots, but that the 330xi slots were all committed.

Of note, it's also explicitly written on my order that the deposit is refundable for any damage that occurs prior to delivery... having read some of the stories of cars held for two months at the prep center for repairs, I didn't want to be one of those folks.

With the 328/335 being the engines for 2007, I'm happy with the 255hp of the 2006 and that's what made me willing to plunk down some cash. My wife and I drove an E90 325xi 6MT, and a 2002 E46 325xi AT, and to be honest, both probably had "enough" power for me, and 255 will be plenty... I certainly won't be pissed about missing out on the turbo.

Not yet anyway.

If there's some damage, for that matter even if they swap the engine, unless it cannot be repaired to factory standards, you simply will not know.

True, and I guess that's just what I wanted.

Not sure what the triplicate looks like in other states, might be interesting to compare some time.

I guess, if it sits at the port in the USA for a month getting a "software update" I would be suspicious.

But it really could be a sw update - if the vdc is backed up.
