Michelin PSS Review

Greetings!

So it happened at last ! I ditched the ''Stupid RFT's'' as Richard Hammond say and installed the PSS's on my OEM tires ( and i was grateful to see that they are not cracked ) and the driving impressions were absolutely terrific.

It is no Placebo effect, it is for real , it's like Night & Day and thus i can certify that each day driving the RFT's is as per say a '' Lost Day'' .

Now the Bimmer is Alive, am getting back the telepathic connection i once had with my old E46 and the ride is light years better and having driven my ride for few 10's of miles i can't help but ask my self why on earth BMW have choosen to go with these Stupid RFT's.

Their Freaking Arguments :

Quote:
We chose to include Run-flat technology on our vehicles for the following reasons:

It is dangerous to stop on any road to change a tyre, especially on a motorway or at night.
There is no need to have to wait for a breakdown service to arrive.
Safety and security of the driver and passenger(s) is maintained.
Alloy wheels are difficult to detach from steel hubs.
On most cars the spare is under the contents of the boot, and uses boot space.
It can be tricky to line up the wheel bolt holes with the hub screw holes and match the thread.
The dirty punctured tyre needs to be removed and stored in the boot.
Another puncture before the punctured tyre is mended means one is stranded.
A driver can continue for 150 miles at 50mph with a punctured Run-flat tyre.
This argument is just nonsensical and it makes BMW drivers look like they're Stupid because all these Arguments above can be dismissed by only 1 sentence : Why the Hell Didn't you give the M Cars these same RFT's??? Aren't you Concerned by M car Owners Safety as Well ?? BS Guys!

Am sorry Bro's if you're on RFT's i highly recommend you testing a car with regular Tires you'll see what's up!

regards & thank you all for all for making me go the PSS way , it's like a New Car

PS: now my Signature looks Cooler with the Michelin PSS added

You are lucky, I had to get new wheels when I went to get my RFT's replaced with MPSS. Two bent wheels & 1 with a crack on the inside.

Loving the new ride though.

On a side note for your sig, 08 135i's only came in Alpine White, not Pearl White.

I personally am a huge fan of pearl white (on 07 STi's/RSX-S's/IS350's) but unfortunately BMW doesn't give us this color option.

I just got my rears replaced with the 255/35 MPSS. From reading around before I made my purchase I was wondering if there was some placebo effect thing going on with all the raves on the MPSS, but its definitely real stuff! Especially with my odd temporary setup right now which has the original 215/40 RFTs upfront and the MPSS 255/35 in the rear, the back half of the car feels completely smooth, compliant, and grippy, while the front is bouncing around all over the place. Going over pot holes that both the front and rear tires hit, the front RFTs make a crazy thumping sound and bounce, while the rear MPSS just absorb it with barely any sound or vibration.

[Before everyone yells at me for being crazy on my RFT front, MPSS rear setup, I am swapping the fronts soon... I just wanted to eat up some more tread on the front as they were holding up quite well compared to the rears eventhough I do a lot of aggressive driving]

Great choice
I am also wearing out my stock RFT's before switching to MPSS.

I ditched my RTF-crap with 2000km on the 313's for a fair price. Tomorrow they will be replaced by Michelin SP3 18-225-40 and 18-255-35.
Here in Belgium the PSS's aren't on sale in those measures. As for 19", obviously no problems.

The run crap rationale might be fine if you're a woman with a 328i sedan and don't know how to change a tire and always drive the car in the least exciting manner possible. Sticking them on 135is is an insult. This car should have been equipped just as well as an M3.
Thank God for PSSs.

Seeing as tires are the single largest determinant of nearly every performance and comfort characteristic, it staggers me that people cheap out.

Bravo on getting the best summers on the market.

Do people find the 225/255 on stock rims give a really meaty tires look? It's awesome! Even tho deep inside me, I regret going staggered... Maybe someday, I'll get those new APEX rims that they are proposing, 235/235 or something.

That's my future right now. Square 235 PSS on those new APEX EC-7s, I'm just waiting for the group buy.

I'm jumping on the wagon as of Monday. Thanks to all for the testimonials about these tires! Looks like 225/255 is the way to go. This also provides a little more sidewall. Anyone think this might provide a little more pothole protection? Think it might slow response just the tiniest amount? Not a big deal, just wondering... Thanks!

Oh yeah - the stock RFT in a sweeper at any decent speed are scary over any road irregularity!!!

Has anyone had any DSC warning lights using the 225/255 tires? My tires evidently just came in, and I had a messgae from the parts guy sating this might be an issue....

Thanks!!

No issue with DSC warning lights with 225/40-18 front and 255/35-18 rear PSS tyres on OEM wheels on our 135i.
