Invoice, etc.
Hey folks:
I am a former owner of a 2009 535i and a 2008 335i. Presently, Im driving a 2012 Acura TL Advance, which I like but really miss my BMWs. I was seriously considering trading the TL in for a CPO 550i or a new 328i. However, I would love to keep the TL and purchase a less expensive car. With that said. It seems that the 135i would be my perfect automobile given its weight, power, agility and price. The family will still have the TL and a very old paid for MDX. What kind of pricing have you been able to get on the 2012 135i (How close to invoice?) I love the mid cycle refresh, but could probably even get a 2011 135i with the sport auto transmission. Looking to purchase my BMW for my 40th birthday at the end of the summer or early fall. thanks for the input! |

$500 to $1,000 over has been standard. With some rebates, you could very well end up below.

You'll be hard pressed to find a 135i leftover. Most cars are special ordered and spoken for upon arrival. A 328xi? No problem - but a 135i has a narrow customer base and is unlikely to be found burning up space at a dealer.

Yep, I agree...maybe a bit over invoice. You'll love the 135 since it sounds like you are looking for a fun car to drive. The 328 would have to be Sports Package plus MT to be a little fun at all, but no where near the 135. We have similar taste in cars (former TSX, TL, and 328 owner, but the wife has the MDX). I dont think you'll find another car similar to the 135 (class) as far as driving satisfaction other than the Porsche Cayman. Good luck

Ken, have you driven the newer TL? It really is a pretty phenomenal car and it is a shame that people are overlooking it, because of the dramatic styling. The 2012 refresh also smoothed out the edges. This is why I do not want to give this car up. Highly reliable, relatively fast and loaded with gadgetry. Thanks for the help. |

The two cars couldn't be more different. High HP and FWD just don't mix well. I'll give you reliability though. Acura is very dependable but I don't know what they were thinking when they designed that TL. Looks like a techno space whale (opinion). I adore my 135i and am having a tough time figuring out what to do at the end of my lease next Sept (CPO RS4 is high in the running).

RS4 rocks! Also note that the new F30 335i M-sport will be available in July. It looks awesome. |

I negotiated $500 over invoice for a custom order, but then paid for it with a two-free-payments loan incentive that I paid off after only about nine months. Factoring in interest, my deal came to about $500 below invoice.
I read somewhere that BMW is offering this same deal again, so you might want to check it out. |

My bad, I thought you were telling the OP to look for a leftover. I would say you should be at, to $1,500 below, invoice on a 2011 leftover. It is rare to find a 135i on the lot collecting dust so you've got a unique scenario there.

Shows 300$ over invoice for a 2012 here in SoCal.
http://www.truecar.com/prices-new/bm...2012/D15E1C90/ Might be different in your area though. |

In the NE Ohio area, the dealers are all pretty much locked at $500 over
invoice. With the $500 cash back offer (that ended yesterday, I believe), it meant that you could purchase/order a 1er fairly close to "invoice". |

I've heard of folks getting good deals not far from invoice on the mainland where there are more choices, but that ain't happening out here on Oahu where there's only one BMW dealer. Out here it's straight MSRP unless you've arranged favors for the sales manager at La Femme Saigon off Keeaumoku St. But at least they don't hammer you for additional money over MSRP euphemistically referred to as "Market Adjustment Value" like other dealerships do. Still, my deal wasn't so bad. I got $2,000 off MSRP from combined rebates and credits and trading in my old Dodge Neon, which basically covered my sales tax (4.72% out here).
I used to order cars from a dealership in Oregon where there is no sales tax and then pay about $850 to have it shipped here. That way I could negotiate a car at or under invoice then just pay $850 on top of that. Hawaii general excise tax is supposed to be paid on it when its brought in as a new car but before the HI dept of taxation wised up you could get away without paying it because it was a self reporting system. Now when you bring in a new car, in order to register it you have to have a form signed off by the dept of taxation as a receipt that you've paid your general excise tax. So no savings there, and it's now costing upwards of $1,100 to ship a car here so anyone wanting to buy a car out here where there's only one dealership has very little leverage. |

I just took delivery of mine but I negotiated to this:
2012 AW BMW 135i Black Leatherette AW Trim M Sport Package MSRP: $39,150 Invoice: $38,485 Sale: $38,775 ------------------- Total: $37,875 (after a $1000 sign and drive certificate) I also traded my car in so I saved another $500 or so on tax |
