Can't we all just get along.. we are all part of the BMW family.. some people strive to be different in terms of visual looks and others based on power.. I think turbo engines are better for daily driving.. now if you are looking to track the car ok the nice V8 high revving engine is a delight.. but nothing can beat the torque off the line for everyday use especially if there is a tune.. maybe he might do the V8 but you can't jump into another project without finishing another..

Lets all just enjoy the finish product.. and thumbs up being the first yellow 1M!!!

BTW the statement about the 1er guys coming over here and saying this and that.. lets get it straight.. those same few will do it on any other board so its not all of us

Not to mention BMW's M Division felt like it was a perfect match. So much hating from so many 135i guys. I don't understand it at all, the cars are from the same DNA but the 1M is so much better! You would think they would like it as default.

You are right. I stand corrected. There is no reason at all to paint a great community with a broad brown brush because of a few shit-heads.

Btw, your car is pretty dope.

Putting things into perspective (again) for those who do not regularly visit this 1M forum: the 1M project was carried out under high time-constraints. With the end of the E82 life-cycle nearing, quick decisions were required to avoid the shelving of the E82 1M project. But they pulled it off.

So it's neat that, now that time is no longer of the essence, enthusiasts like Powerbeast take their time to walk the extra mile and come up with some special features.

Just for the record (again) about the fast 1M development:
"The time window for this car [was] extremely tight and originally enthusiasm was not apparent until Dr. Kay Segler came to the M Division.
We had initially toyed with the idea of a 1M when we were conceiving the Coupe and did work with evaluation models then using the engine from the E46 and the upgraded E46 CSL engine but it proved to be too heavy for the car.
Originally in the early days of marketing the standard 135i was originally meant to be an M model.
The 1M that stands before you now has had possibly the most progressive stage from thought-production turnaround for a BMW. There had to be a lot of arm-twisting in the BMW Board because of the tight window between generation 1 and generation 2 of the Coupe. The proposal was greenlit when BMW decided to use the Coupe model for the BMW eDrive evaluation. Therefore slightly extending its life cycle.
When I first saw the car it was in a design studio as a full scale clay-model but since then some designers ideas have to make way for aerodynamics and engineering. The initial engine proposal was the N55 but they were having issues that cannot be solved within the time window. BMW greenlit this car in July 2009, now over a year later we see it as it [is] intended, although testing still commences until the launch. Valvetronic was the main cause of the time delay but BMW have spent some time on this and are using the N55 as a basis for the next M3.
The best way to describe the engine of the 1M is a "Hybrid" but in the original form of Hybrid, nothing to do with "alternatives", but it is not a straightforward transplant.
There is a lot of this car that will carry over for the next generation 1M in which that car will switch to four cylinders to which the M Division engineers are already working on the basics without time constraints or restrictions. E82 1M is showing what is possible in a small time-frame. F22 1M will show what is possible once you do not have restrictions."

"Expert dialogue: Why is the BMW 1 Series M Coupé supplied with the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ex works instead of the current successor product, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport?
BMW M Engineer J. Schwenker: The successor to the excellent PS2 is the PS3. At the time of vehicle testing and homologation, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport was not yet available in this size."

Nice post. I remember reading this a while back and I've highlighted the 2 most important statements. IMO

If Mgroup uses an N55 variant for the next M3, will it be a 'true' M car?

Tbh I think a v8 would ruin it, I do however think a single turbo conversion would be the way forward, will lose abit of weight too, absolutely beautiful car mate, keep up the good work, wish I could afford the 1m myself but I can't so I'm looking at a 135 m sport as a perfect alternative, I think if you're going for lightness though with the carbon roof, you might want to follow the csl route and go for lighter rear windows, and they're better for security

Couldn't agree more. I am here for the purpose of sharing information and enthusiasm. I prefer to assume most others have similar expectations. It would be sad and boring otherwise.

This was my exact sentiment. I found that post rude at the least for the bravery and scope of work Powerbeast put together. If you don't want to say a nice thing or don't have a new idea (NEW!) then why say anything?

If I got it right Powerbeast wants to be himself in every detail and not a king anyway. Kings don't come in yellow.
