Regret 135Is
As much as I love my 135is. I realized that I want a 128 since it'll last longer.
I like the feeling how its non turbo will go in a long run in and save gas. |

I don't think it will save in gas, but it will save in maintenance.

No real proof the 128 will "last longer" and will not save on gas. Don't over-react to nay-sayers on the web.
But, your choice.

i love the 128....but that thought has never crossed my mind. I bought this car for its wild side....didn't buy it to save 72 cents on gas. LOL |

Didn't you test drive both first? I don't think anyone has ever chosen to buy a 135i to save gas.

sounds like someone has been reading too much. Sure someone with a 128i would gladly trade. Stop reading about the problems and enjoy the car. I had a non-turbo bmw some years ago and it was the most unrealiable car I've ever owned. Though I've had a few things with the 135i, nothing turbo related and typical car stuff.

Believe it or not, I sometimes felt the same way when I had my 135. I would prefer a fully loaded 6 speed 128. Just a classic car that you could keep pretty much forever, N/A etc. 135 was also a complete gas guzzler., but it was fun. 128 is up there as a really solid long term car.

LOL! Me either. The N54 motor was the reason I purchased my 135i in the first place.

Don't expect gas savings by swapping to a 128, i get 25mpg driving 90% highway with mine and i'm modded(hasn't changed much with mods, if anything it went up slightly).
I don't think the engine itself on the n54 will necessarily be unreliable, the block itself has been proven to handle a lot of power. However turbo's do fail eventually and so does all of the piping and related parts; inevitably they will have to be replaced. I also vote to enjoy your new car and the power that comes with it.
