Some questions about 1M

Hi guys,

I got couple of questions about 1m?
1, How many kw or hp does a 1m has atw?
2, How many wheel kw or hp will a 1m has, after a tuning and some bolt on parts(like dump pipe, charge pipe, air intake, etc)
3, I know the 1M use N54 instead of N55. Does 1m still suffer from HPFP issue? Any difference between 1M engine and a normal 135i engine..

I used to have 2011 DCT 135i, and now I' m driving a DCT e92 M3...but I still miss the day of turbo...(The M3 is perfect, but not that much tunable. besides, the torque for M3 isn't good, few place in my area can let me rev till 8300RPM)So I'm thinking about get rid off my M3 and get a 1M or TTRS maybe...Will I be a nut if I do so?
Which one will you prefer m3, 1m or TTRS...

Cheers.

Power depends on too many factors and people have dyno'd 3 1M together and got different results, but the general consensus is that the 1M is under quoted on power by BMW. At the wheels, people have dyno'd their 1M to be around 220-230kw atw. FBO and tune probably looking at 270-290kw atw..again depends on your tune etc.

From what i have read on the 1M forums, not many people have suffered from HPFP issues as the 1M did receive a revised version. From reported incidents on the 1M forums, only saw 3 people had an issue, note this was world wide, but then again not everyone is on forums. The engine internals are basically the same, but other parts like clutch, flywheel, suspension, brakes, rear axel etc. are from the E92 M3.

A lot of people have moved from a 135 or M3 to a 1M not because of the power but because of the feeling of driving a 1M. The 1M was always about the driving experience/handling and not full on power. People who have moved from an M3 say the 1M is more enjoyable to drive.

Was considering a M3 before buying the 1M...

Very different cars.

One is a very smooth looking, beautiful car, with a lavish interior, but is only really enjoyable when being thrashed. Its too sedate at other times for my taste.

The other looks more butch, but isnt as beautiful, and the interior isnt as good. But for a fun driving experience all the time, its a much better proposition.

Engine wise they both have enough power.

Best to test drive both back to back and see what you like.

Get yourself a harrop supercharger, then the S65 will have some much needed torque!

M3> 1M IMO by far!! with it's bespoke ///M engine and interior

Yeah that's probably the best idea since you already have a m3.
Just get more torque out of it.

I was thinking of getting an M3 and putting a S/C on it. I watched a good segment on YouTube last week which had a VF Engineering E92 M3, its not as common as the ESS Supercharger but still a good review.

Harrop is locally manufactured so is a no brainer imo

The S65 makes a much nicer note compared to the N54 in the 1M and has a sexy cf roof also

Having said that the 1M is still a great car, and fills the small performance car niche to a tee with its bulging guards, big wheels, great chassis and plenty of power with the N54

1. IIRC around 220kw
2. Mine is around 280kw
3. Haven't had a HPFP issue, yet. The 1M engine is essentially the same with a different tune.

Like what someone said - the easiest to put a supercharger on yours. However, 1M is still more nimble, and dangerous .
