Detailing interior gloss burlwood trim

I've seen that Swissvax makes a wood glaze/wax for interior wood trims. I'm probably going to get that stuff, however in the meantime I need to clean and detail the wood trim without scratching or causing swirlmarks in the clear coating.

What do you guys use to detail your wood trims?

I use some Cockpit Premium to clean it, then throw a coat of wax on it. My wax of choice right now is Dodo Juice Purple Haze.

I don't know how their product would be much different from a regular wax to be honest.

I agree. A regular wax is probably just as effective.
The cockpit premium cleaner...I need that...where can I get it?

The majority of wood trim has a protective urathane coating, so a product that contains (UV-B) protection like Iz Cockpit Premium

Sorry for the slight threadjack - but is the Einzett Cockpit Premium good as a cleaner, or is it just a protectant? I'm looking for something that I can use to wipe down dash, doors, leatherette seats and that has some cleaning ability. Right now I'm using Aerospace 303, which is really more of a protectant, and doesn't really clean at all. In fact, I find it leaves weird spots if not applied completely uniformly.

If you get any wax on the dash board is a bitch to get off? I have never bothered to wax the trim in my wife's car as I figured I might get some over the edge of the wood trim and leave some white marks on the dash. I know how much fun that wax residue can be to get off exterior black trim sometimes!

From what I've read, Cockpit is considered to be a "mild" cleaner. It worked well for me for cleaning up the MB-Tex (leatherette) seats in my Mercedes, brought them back to new actually. However, on scuffs and more stubborn dirt I wouldn't expect much.

I agree on the marks/blotching left by 303 if you're not super careful. Therefore, I use it only on certain areas of my interior (dashboard top, trim in the back of the Roadster, etc) and use cockpit for the rest of the items.

Yes, it's a b1tch to get it off the exterior black trim!

I basically just dip my finger wrapped in a MF towel into the wax and spread it that way. I've never had any issues getting it on the dash but if you wipe it down quickly you should be fine.

When I got my car (used) mine was pretty scratched up from the dealer details. In sunlight you could see halo's and spidering similar to what you see in exterior clear coats. I washed it with window cleaner, then ran a coat of Meguiars scratch remover over it, then waxed it with Meguiars wax and it looks like new again. I use a pink pencil eraser (remember those big pink erasers from grade school?) to clean off any wax residue on the trims/dash/etc ... works every time.

I ended up getting the Swissvax wax for interior wood trim anyways. I also got their plastic cleaner (prep for any interior protectant).
We'll see how these products perform when I get them in the mail...

I like the Sonax dash cleaner.

I like Sonax products;they are not terribly expensive.
As a protectant, I'll probably go with either Sonax or Griots.

I just spent wayy to much on Swissvax products ranging from the interior stuff and so forth. (I also got their Nano quick refinisher 1000ML and the quick finish paintwork cleaner 1000ML).

Time is scarce anymore for me to attend to my car the way I would like though with my job and my wedding approaching July 16th. We'll see what happens! Usually when I obtain new products I can't wait to try them in combination with the stuff I use for my 7-14 hour 2 day detail sessions lol.
I just got the basics from Swissvax..it's stuff I don't really need. Unfortunately detailing is(or was?) my hobby. Should be fun!! Now Just gotta free up a weekend!
