Isn't that the brief for the new M3?

Don't think it'll be a high rpm engine though. Well, it'll be high for a turbocharged engine but certainly not 8400rpm. I do hope however it'll achieve more than 35mpg on the combined cycle and is within a lower CO2 tax band. Looking to replace mine when the LCI M4 performance pack version comes up in 4-5 years time. Incidentally, Joe is managing to achieve high 30's now on his motorway journeys.

I think the future of all high performance cars will be forced induction or hybrids unfortunately, but it's fine by me, given that you can drive harder and longer for whilst using less fuel. The Gen. II GT3 RS 3.8 is certainly tempting for me too. Will see how prices go in a couple of years time.

Why I will never get rid of my 1M and a few years down the road when I'm on my own my goal is to have both in the garage! |

Great points by all! Love my 1M. Would be awesome to put an e90m3 sedan in the garage alongside someday as a daily driver. Fortunately, the sedans are getting cheaper....should be able to find one for around 20k in a couple of years.... |

Unfortunately, you either like it or you don't. You could also say that one does not need the best part 95% of the time i.e. for regular driving. It's not as though the car can't move when it's anything below 7k. One can be in the right gear at a low rpm and it's still on boil.

The E92 M3 with the Comp is a beast, I've driven my friends and I'd gladly trade in my FBO E85 tuned 135i in a heartbeat. I'll pull on him all day, but even with coilovers I'm no where near close to handling as the Comp M3. I'd have to dump $3-4K to get handling close to the 1M let alone the Comp M3. Get a SC kit for that badass S65 and call it a day.
