What did you guys do to stop rattling?
As the topic says, what do you guys to do prevent rattling? I have subs in my trunk and they get pretty damn loud.
Main rattling from inside the car: door locks that move up and down (the little nub) rattles in the locked/unlocked position (though this rattles even on bumps and rough roads without any help from my subs) rear deck behind the seats probably flexes up from .5"-1" when my subwoofers are hitting, major rattles when bass is turned up rattling outside most noisy to least: LICENSE PLATE (this rattles the most from outside), trunk lid spoiler, fenders/entire trunk any ideas on reducing the flex/vibrations/rattles on the rear deck? obviously when i put my hand down on it to prevent it from rattling up (and presumably hitting the glass near the edges) the noise is drastically reduced. perhaps something to hold it in place better? also for the outside, was thinking about putting some kind of rubber spacer to dampen the vibrations in between my license plate frame and the trunk, any ideas?

Dynamat or equivalent works great. Dynamat is so expensive, but if you look on ebay, there's alot of other similar products out there for far less. I always put dynamat on the back of the license plate and also used a rubber spacer/washer as well. Use all 4 screws for the license plate (I've seen so many people complain about license plate rattle but only use 2 mounting screws!).

i didn't want to mat my entire trunk, i actually considered matting the back of my license plate frame and using rubber spacer/washers too lol. and of course i have all 4 screws in.. makes absolutely no sense to me to use only two. sounds like those people are being lazy and its just plain ugly lol

are you talking about where there is a hole into the rear deck part of the cabin with the rest of that isolation? what type/where did you get the foam wedges? did it help a lot?

I'd like to bump this thread up.
Any ideas to help with the horrible back deck rattling? Not exactly sure how I'd be able to dynamat that deck area. What i've been doing is just using a blanket or a sweatshirt, and press it up against the window & deck firmly so it keeps pressure on it. It works, but it also blocks my view in my rear view mirror. Im looking for a better solution. I personally use 2 screws for my licence plate, on the back of where the bottom two screws would go, I stuck on a piece of felt furniture padding (what you use for furniture on hardwood floors). Works great! |
