I was recently informed that my vehicle on on the "Dover Highway" and will dock in Brunswick, GA on May 9, 2012. The ship was built last year, Japanese Registry and, I believe, owned by Carolina Shipping.

From what I have gathered it will go through customs, be cleaned up from the shipping, placed on a truck, delivered to the dealership where it will be cleaned up and made ready for your arrival.

Its clears customs pretty quickly but BMW has a giant service center near the port where they do the prep work. Takes a few days to get your car in & out then it gets on a truck to head to your location. Luckily I'm only a couple hours from the Port of NY but you guys look pretty far from the Port of LA so add some time for that.

Thanks for that info. I do not know how the truckers work these days but it is 1134 Miles which is about 17hr 30min from Brunswick, GA to San Antonio, TX. Then I expect, at a minimum, 2 days at the dealership getting the car cleaned, installing the PPK1 S/W and window tinting.

This has got to be the longest wait in my life. The other longest wait was my travel from Japan to San Francisco by ship. I could hardly wait to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

I know the ride is going to be far better and more enjoyable than seeing the bridge.

I would add a few days at the port and another few days for truck transit.
I think most of the traditional 'dealer prep" work BMW seems to do at the port.

But I would add a couple days for the PPK & other things. You've waited this long another few days won't kill you ;-)

Agreed. I am looking at 2 days at Port, 2 days on truck and 2 days at dealership. Heck after 10 weeks what is another week?

Thanks for the above predator I was able to watch my ship throughout Europe. It's crossing the pond right now

You will see "Cargo ID". Put the full VIN in the box and hit search at the bottom. This will only give you information once the car is on a boat. Once you get the ship name you can Google the ship and see where it is via Marine Traffic site. For example.. I Googled "Topeka Ship" and the top link was from Marine Traffic. You will then see a link on the left hand side that will give you the current location or the x y cords.

Looks like it will make it to the Port of NY on the 26th.
Hopefully it will take less than a week to get to the dealership

Production started yesterday (10/23), phone service says it will end 11/2, so I'm anticipating somewhere around a turkey day delivery. Took about two weeks after order for production to start.

My 135is order is at Bremerhaven awaiting a ship, by looking at the WW "North American/Europe Inbound Service Schedule" and seeing which ships stop at both Bremerhaven and Brunswick (many of them don't), I can see that the first possible ships for me are "Don Juan" or "Honor", both of which arrive in Brunswick on March 4. Hopefully with two ships loading at Bremerhaven it will make it onto one of them! Weekly ships after that. Looks like March 4 is the only day on the current schedule where two ships arrive at Brunswick together, that will be a busy time at the VDC.

Ahhh finally going back to BMW after having an Infiniti for 3 years, car finish production Monday and I am waiting to see if it is on a ship yet. It is crazy to me that the website is not in real time given how many other companies can track every step of production. CA says it should be here in like 3 weeks though, waiting for another update soon.

Also, I tried to find it on a ship but no dice. Wish they could just fly the cars here!!!

As far as I can tell, my car is still sitting in Bremerhaven, been there about 9 days now. My next chance for a ship will be the "Mignon", departing Bremerhaven on Tuesday and arriving in Brunswick on March 11. Will become seriously annoyed if it doesn't make that ship, another 8 days of waiting for the one after that.

Wow just realized my boat will be TONGALA. Based on when it is supposed to make it to CA my CA over promised on the dates and I am going to be carless for at least a week. Now I'm annoyed.

tapout2taxes, when did your car arrive at Bremerhaven? I don't know how long cars typically have to sit waiting to get onto a ship for West Coast deliveries, but my car is headed to Brunswick and has been sitting at Bremerhaven for about 9 days now. A couple of East Coast bound ships left Bremerhaven a few days after my car arrived there, but it apparently did not make it onto either of them.

Meanwhile I continue to drive my '04 325 around Key West, hoping it can survive with intermittent low oil pressure until my new car is here.
