No you misunderstand, its safer because you wont strain your back bending over or suffer from old man hands after you wash the car.

I got stung by a bee washing my car once! I can see how this would be safer cause no bees can get you when your inside your car!

Well, it's probably safer than the hand-washing a lot of places do, untrained staff using dirty rags and filthy water.

The last time I took my car to the dealer for service, the service adviser forgot to mark my car "do not wash." When I went to pick it up, he must have realized his error, cause the first thing he said was, "I know you don't like the machine wash, so I had it hand-washed for you." I didn't say anything, but I was thinking, "I hope you're lying, and it went thru the machine."

i get my tyres from there, will have to pop next door and get a safe car wash too

Car went in today to have the front end fixed after the roo, asked them not to wash my car at end of the job... they looked at me very strangely.
"no one ever says that"... "erm yea... just don't wash mine thanks"
Not going to spend hours undoing their accidental damage...
