WBT ASAP: Passenger Side Fender (Preferably Space Grey)
Hey guys I'm in a bit of a pickle right now.
My passenger side fender got hit yesterday and the guy drove off, but I'm not filing for hit and run because I can't afford to pay the extra insurance. The fender was originally bent and rubbing my tire at all times, but I went straight to a body shop where they told me it was cracked and then proceeded to make it drivable again. With a crowbar... They then quoted me for $1500 to get it fixed and painted So I thought I'd post up here seeing if anyone happened to have a PS fender for sale. It'd be great if it was also Space Grey, but if you're selling one for cheap then I'm all ears. If anyone else has any solutions then please let me know, I just know I can't afford $1500 in repairs right now Cheers. |

And thanks Cooler, do you happen to have any experience from this seller? I mean yes that's an attractive price, but I'd rather pay $300 for an OEM one if there's no background info on that. |

No I don't. But he has 8+ sold so seems to be fine. Look for an OEM one on ebay if you want OEM.

$1500 is pretty nuts.
Do you have a cost breakdown of the repair work? How much are they charging specifically for the fender? Is the fender the only damaged part? Is the headlight bracket or fender liners damaged? Does the paint work require or include blending? |

I would suggest checking out local picknpull type junkyards so you can just nab what you need. I would also say that there's something missing because installation, paint and the panel itself should run about $1000 at most. You could also get the parts cheap from some of vendor sponsors.
As ilikebmxbikes said above this, you need to check that that is all that's been damaged. If it's really that simple and you can afford one, then just buy it and have a good shop that you trust paint it, then do the install yourself. |

Thanks for all the great feedback guys, here's the answers to those questions;
The fender is $305 and the paint and labor fees come to $1200. The fender is cracked and warped beyond saving. It will require the paint to be blended with the passenger side door. My bumper is also slightly cracked but not warped at all, so I will replace that too just not right away. I think I might just pick up a fender from the junkyard and run a different coloured one until I can afford a new bumper and paint, and then get it all done at once so the paint all matches. I'd also be going to a different shop if all I need is paint because the painting quote I got was a little extreme. So we'll see. Thanks again everyone. |

The paint quote is starting to make sense because of the blending. Trust me, you will want to blend the panel.
overall you will save money by doing the bumper and the fender at the same time. REALOEM has the fender at $267. I would PM ReevesBMW to see what price they can get you. They have always been at or lower than the REALOEM prices. Quote:
