I just spent a day at Knotts Berry Farm with the kids riding rollercosters. The silver bullet is an awesome ride. Fast, smooth, suspension type rollercoster. We loved it and we thought of skipping the Ghostrider which is fairly new but all wood. No way it would be as fun as the super smooth fast modern coaster. We were wrong! Krikey, that thing was loud, bumpy, fast with a huge drop and the rickety klackety sound added an element of danger that made it excilarating. I think this the best analogy I can offer. The Cayman is a better curve carving more refined machine but the 1M has a wooden coaster-like soul that makes it a little dangerous and fun. Hope that helps!
Your metaphors just keep getting better and better!

Agreed. I too have something old on its way, '95 911 c2. I love the 1m and it will be incredibly hard to part with but it will be for sale soon
Similar situation for me. I have a 1M and also have an older air cooled 911 and have been alternating between them for past few years. To keep mileage down on the 1M, I've spent this entire summer with the 911 - both on the road and for HPDE.

When I got back in the 1M after 4 months of being in the 911, I found it amazingly fast but the level of engagement just doesn't compare with the old Porsche. The 90s cars really rocked!

I've got a year 2000 Exige that has an engine transplant and runs a 350bhp charged Honda motor. In terms of driver involvement,..it's off the chart. You've seriously gotta be in the mood though as its so demanding, hot, loud and lairy a real sensory overload. My 1M is a nice foil as it is so much more civilised but still with a hard edge.

Thanks guys, sorry for the thread drift. Maybe we should have a separate thread with pics of 1M owner's other rides? It often seems that having 1M means having some other interesting metal too..

In the meantime,..oh go on then a couple more pics of my Lotus Exige.
