Exhaust tip replacement

I'm looking for a cleaner look than my stock exhaust but I don't want to spend $600+ on a BMW Perf exhaust just for the sound..

Will these work?
http://www.schmiedmann.com/1_series/...page7.htm#6810

Or is there something similar?

Yeah they'd work, but they look pretty horrible IMO.
Just snap up a set of 135i shadow chrome tips, the look awesome.

Is the diameter of the 135 exhaust the same as the 128?

CYBA on e90 forums has numerous options, the 328i stuff might fit 128i pipes.

NO, see realoem.com for exhaust, that page has the tip covers. If i recall 135i diamter is like 50mm.

In the past some one painted / powdr coated their OEM 128i tips and it turned out pretty

Save for that performance exhaust. The sound is amazing.

If you can find a PE for $600, jump on it. Best decision you'll ever make.

The only problem I have with the PE is that there is little to no performance gain. $600 for sound vs. ~$100 on cosmetics

You will enjoy it so much, it's well worth the 600 bucks.

Or, you could get some shop to modify your current muffler. Weld some straight pipes into it.

And you are correct by saying there are no gains in power.

The PE is really worth it. Trust "us" you will thank us later. It really makes the car. Personally I think my PE and my Perf SSK and CDV were the best mods I have made to my car. AND they all should have come standard on the car.

So... is it worth $600 for just the sound. Some of "us" 135i guys paid more like $940 for our PE's... and it was worth it. And... we got no power gains either. I would buy the PE again - it's THAT nice of an exhaust.

Save your money.....picked up these Chinese knock-off "Remus" dual tips off ebay...cut the whole muffler off and connected these right to the exhaust.

The sound is incredible....it's not loud, but you can hear it...beautiful straight 6 music, part Austin Healey 3000, part BMW CSL, part Jag XKE....some very sweet gurgling off the throttle....

Haha the 1addict peer pressure! Thanks for the input everyone. Can any share some pics of a profile shot of their PE. I see some that stick out a few inches and some that are more flush.

The PE just clamps in place of the stock muffler. You can kinda choose how far the tips stick out by cutting closer or further on the exhaust piping behind the stock muffler. They will stick out a bit further than stock either way but it's subtle and it really looks great.

The sound is also AWESOME. I have had the PE and every version of modified exhausts on my n52 and i still think the PE is the nicest sounding.

I can also highly recommend the PE. The sound alone is worth the $$$$.

Exhausttips that change the sound? How does that work?

Not to derail the PE peer pressure. The price listed is what the magnaflow 128i was just last year. So prices are good for an oem part which used to be 800+

I have seen the used 135i oem axel back go for super cheap on these forums.
A 128i can Make a poor mans Pe out of that. Or mimic the e9x 328i pe and have a shop cut off the resonator

Having heard pe on 135. 128. 328. 330. And maybe even 335. I think the pe for n52 engine sounds best on the 328i vs 128i. They are close in sound, but e9x has smth extra. So dont think A resonator delete is needed, it jut does no bad.

There is no performance with any of the mufflers.
