I think your talking about the lower valence portion of the bumper that covers the intercooler brake ducts?

Yah it can be a big pain in the ass... you almost have to completely remove the bumper. If your good you can remove the bolts on the bottom and get those plastic guard covers off the bottom as well and work from there. Its not easy but manageable.

I removed mine using a small screwdrived to release the tabs and it took about 10 mins. I fitted the Race Mesh Powder coated blac grill and the matching kidney grills, it looks awesome. The Race Mesh grill actuall fits "over" the old one so you don;t need to take it out anyway. I did as I cut all the mesh out the OEM and just left the surround that fits to the clips in the bumper. That way I had more airflow up close there is no OEM grill to see. If you do a search on my posts you will see some pictures

I forgot you could use a screwdriver and carefully wedge the tabs out. Makes it 100% easier...

Good thread as I was just trying to figure out how to remove my grill to paint it gloss black.

The concern is putting that much pressure on the screwdriver as you jam it between the grill and bumper...doesn't it scratch, crack or chip the paint? How many tabs do you have to do like this to remove the grill? When you install the race grill, don't the hard tabs scratch the paint?

Any pics of install or removal?

Just use a small screwdriver and put a towel or something below it. There should be 6-8 clips.
