What came with your car?

Hi all,

I got a 2013 135i a few weeks ago and was wondering what was included with your car when you took delivery? I did a search about the meager tool kit (although my Ducati tool kit is also pretty piss poor) in the trunk. There seems to be a discrepancy on what actually comes with it. I have in my pouch the towing attachment, a screwdriver, and an allen wrench. Also, keep in mind my care is a coupe and not a convertible so for some reason I got the allen wrench.

To my surprise, I found something else under the floor panel in the tunk compartment. I got a set of wheel locks. I didn't see any mention of anyone having these included with their cars. Anybody else get wheel locks?

And lastly, I'm assuming the first aid kit and the hazard triangles are for European delivered cars?

Thanks for taking the time to read through this and sorry for the noob questions. This is my first BMW.

First aid kit, safety triangle and Euro temp plates for me.

If you have wheel locks, they would have been installed by the dealer, not the factory.

Same here... i did get wheel locks with mine, but that's because they gave me a credit for some miscommunications they gave me.

My 2012 came with wheel locks as well, but I replaced them with regular bolts.

Yoour kit is standard fare. The allen wrench is for the sunroof in case you need to operate it manually.

I got the standard issue set: tool kit, 2 key fobs, and wheel locks. I did however also get an Iphone 4 connector, which I am not sure is standard, great addition though.

Yeah my iPod connector wasn't "standard" but was a free addition, along with the leather interior upgrade, when I ordered my car as a promotional thing. The cable, at the time, was normally a $300+ option for reasons unknown to me.

Why the iPhone cable if the iPhone works via the USB port just fine (except for the brain dead radio menus)? Was that a pre-2012 feature?

My iPhone does bugger-all through the USB port other than charge.

I have a 32gb USB stick plugged in there and a double USB port charger plugged into the cigarette lighter that I plug my phone into.

The tool kit wasn't much of a tool kit... There are more tools in a Swiss Army Knife.

The expensive BMW cable for the iPhone 4 has the USB connector for charging, and the headphone adapter to connect it to the head unit/speakers. Are you using the BMW connector, or just the iPhone charging cable?

Does anyone know if they have an iPhone 5 cable now? They didn't, last time I looked, and I don't think my radio (2011 135i with Harmon Kardon) will connect with the phone via Bluetooth.

I'm just using the standard Lightning to USB on my iPhone 5. It charges and plays fine. I can use the steering wheel controls. I find the head unit to get to the playlists a hassle so I mainly use the iPhones menus to get my playlist I want. Too bad BMW didn't want to have Bluetooth audio in 2012.

Oh, and my CPO came with a screwdriver. It was missing the toe hook, Allen wrench. So much for the "thorough" inspection. I got them to get me the missing items after they told me the vehicles don't come with anymore. What crap dealers come up with

I never bothered to buy the expensive cable. I didn't want analogue sound through an audio jack. So I just dumped my iTunes on a USB stick the sound quality is much better.

Speaking of things that were supposed to come with your car, I never received any of the annual "gifts" that many others received after each year of ownership.

And also, the warning triangle. I need a new one. Mine was left on the side of the Autobahn after I hit that fox at 105mph. Anyone know where I can get a replacement? I have the case, just not the triangle.

Bought mine used, came with tow hook and allen key. Only came with 1 key fob, all manuals, and the usb/aux connector with 30-pin for iphone. Oh also came with wheel lock bolts on the front wheels, and no key to get them off. BMW tried charging me $55 to take them off.

Can you use just a usb stick and play through the radio? My ipod will only play through my radio if connected to aux port, and charge through the usb. I haven't tried playing songs with my iphone 5 with only the usb lightning cable.

You sure can. The USB Stick thing works really well. If you have your MP3s tagged properly then it sorts them by artist, album, genre, or playlist. You can also just browse the directory structure too.

Make sure your music is MP3 though. I learned the hard way that it doesn't play lossless AAC and certainly wont play FLAC.

My iPhone 5s doesn't play though the usb port. I think it depends on which one of the 60million different phone related options the car was ordered with. Some have the right ones, I most definitely don't.
