So, how are your non-runflats doing?

There are a ton of threads here asking which tires to get when it's time to ditch the RFTs. There seems to be a small handfull of favorites.

I've had my stockers for 14 months/14,000 miles and the rears are done (the fronts, of course, still have plenty of life left), so it is definitely time for new rubber and I am definitely getting non-RFTs as replacements. Personally I am leaning heavily on the side of Hanook V12s at the moment.

What I haven't seen much mention of is what kind of tire life people are getting with their replacements. So what kind of mileage are you getting from your PS2s or your V12s or your RE11s or whatever else you might be running and what kind of driving are you doing with your choice of non-RFTs to get your results?

Side note: I've been so busy lately, I haven't had much time to participate here lately. It feels good to be back.

I've had my RE-11's on for roughly 10,000km's. They seem to be holding up better than the RFT's in terms of wear and I'm hoping for at least 25,000km's on the rear but that might be a bit ambitious. Time will tell. They are a fantastic performance tyre, they grip unbelievably well and feel great although I can probably think of a few other options which are almost as good at a fraction of the cost.

I'm using Sumitomo's from Tire Rack:

Front - 225/40ZR-18 Sumitomo HTR Z III XL
Rear - 255/35ZR-18 Sumitomo HTR Z III XL

Stock tires lasted to about 18 months, 18k miles. The Sumitomos are still grippy and quiet, and show little to no sign of wear 8 months in with about 8k miles on them. That's mostly daily driving in Florida heat.

Like all others, my rears are at the end of their life. Running Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season. Changed them out at 2k miles and I'm currently at 15k; went through two winter seasons as well.

I'm in the same boat as you...my rears are at 3/32 and 4/32, but fronts are still 5/32 and 6/32. Looking at getting Hankook Ventus V12's for my replacement summer tire.

My Hankooks are doing great. But I keep forgetting to do something about having a plan if I should wind up with a flat....

What are you all doing? Pump kits? Donut spares, regular spare - details.....

Thanks for the replies guys. I already have a compressor and that's probably all I'm going to use as a safety net if I get a flat. If that's not enough to limp myself to a place to get it fixed, that's what roadside assistance is for.

All you need, and only adds about 25lbs or so.

Plus you get to run REAL performance tires, like my Yokohama ADVAN AD08s that are coming in.

+1, I have ~4.2K on my hankook v12's and they are doing fine. I got ~17K out of my run-flats before the hit 5/32 tread in the rear (Goodyear Eagle LS2). Still looking at them in my garage for when I sell the car..... in like 20 yrs

I have Hankook V12s. Don't love em, don't hate em. They're pretty square so they look a bit clunky. I'll definitely try something different next time.

Kumho Ecsta XS 245's up front. Love the grip. Hate the noise for daily driving, but they're wearing nicely. I'm going to try Yokohama S-Drives for daily driving (have them on another car) and leave the Ecsta's for track days only.

I decided to go ahead and get the Hankooks. Ordered them yesterday from Gill to sneak in on the deadline for the $50 rebate. Even if they don't live up to my wildest expectations, I know they will be far better than my run-craps.

Youre doing A/S tires in Colo for winters? How's that going?

>>I'm using Sumitomo's from Tire Rack:

Front - 225/40ZR-18 Sumitomo HTR Z III XL
Rear - 255/35ZR-18 Sumitomo HTR Z III XL<<

How do the 255s fit? Any fender rubbing/rolling issues?

No problems with fit, plenty of clearance.. no rubbing with the 255's in the back and the 225's up front. They don't look all that different than the stock tires - a little more flush vertically with the wheel.

I had to change out my rear run-flats at 22,000 and the fronts at 30,000.

Put the Bridgestones back on.

Agree the tire is hard, but it doesn't bother me. It's actually a very retro-handling tire.
