M3 control arms OR camber plates...
So I am switching coilovers and my old ones had built in camber platers (JIC Cross). I do not track my car so I will have the camber plates set and forget them just like I will do with the coilovers. If I just switch to M3 control arms with the added .75 degrees of camber will that make camber plates useless for me?? I'm not sure what my current plates are set at...

The camber plates will be able to get you way more than -.75 degrees.
If you want set-it-and-forget-it type camber plates, you don't need adjustable ones. You could get the Dinan camber plates for $200, which are also less likely to give you NVH issues in the long run. You could do what I did... I already have camber plates (installed by the previous owner), so I didn't need the extra camber from the M3 bits. Instead of doing the full M3 control arm conversion, I just did the upper control arm bushings... so I get the steering feel of the M3 bits without having to spend money on extra camber that I don't really need. Also - if you don't plan to adjust your coilovers, why not just get springs/shocks?

The M3 arms and tension struts are probably better because you will get the harder front bushings which improve steering feel. On the other hand, Dinan fixed camber plates will give you similar camber for less money.

After talking with Harold I went with M3 control arms and removing the alignment pin. For street I only need -1.5* of camber, so with this set up I should be able to get that pretty easily. Set up will be with KW V2's...

Bumping this thread for the same question.
18X8.5 ET 45 Direzza Z2 235/40R18 18X9.5 ET 58 Dirreza Z2 265/35R18 Yet to be installed I have stock suspension and from research, I will need some additional camber in the front. Should I get the Dinan camber plates or M3 control arms? This is my daily and I only plan to track a couple times a year, so I would like to stay away from fully adjustable camber plates. |

Thanks. I ordered the dinan plates and will most likely go with a minor fender roll if that is not enough. The price of the front control arms is a little too much.

Another benefit of the Dinan camber plates is that they help protect the strut towers from mushrooming.
If you can afford it why not do both as you will have more camber adjustment available if needed and get the harder bushings with the M3 front control arms. I'm really thinking of going this route. |
