yeah things to do:

1) ask to see the vehicle inquiry report. this shows your dealer submitted the order.

2) production numbers are just dealer allocations.... if the dealer has gotten their allocaitons then they have a set of production numbers in their system ...

3) all they have to do is configure that allocated production number to your specs and make it a priority 1 order for you and you are set.

4) you can then take that production number and call BMWNA and find out the status of your order too!

if your dealer hasn't gotten allocations yet i'd be suspicious... maybe you are down the wait list a bit?

My dealer showed me a recent printout of a BMW spreadsheet that looked real. It had 2 135i and 1 128i, but the production number fields were empty. It had build dates of the 1st week of Feb, but no prod numbers.

interesting ... i'm not expert enough to really know what's going on with any definitiveness ... all i can say is that my dealer had 3 allocations that were all priority 3 until they configured mine and switched it to priority 1. each one had a production number in their priority 3 state (i.e. before any customer orders had been submitted).

thanks for the input/correction.

So, I talked to the dealer yesterday, and it turns out he faxed in the request for the order, but not the order itself. He was actually waiting for more allocations to come up later in the spring for ED, but they would not be using their allocations right now.

Needless to say, I pulled my deposit and drove over to another one, put my non-refundable deposit down on the last 1 allocation they had, and the order should be on its way! I'm looking at an ED date of late April...

Congrats, dclee1. I'm envious of the ED!
