If your car is covered, you will receive a letter in the mail. Right now, only MY2008 135s are covered.

What does MY135i mean? Is that a May production date? I'm officially lost here.

BMW does not lose money from the defective HDP. the company that resources these pumps will eventually reimburse BMW for all the faulty pumps/labor. also, SIB's and recalls don't come out until there are X amount of claims. there are already bulletins for this matter. recalls is more of a safety related issue.

your vehicle may have a MY of '07 or '08, but i believe it's gonna be dependant on production date. just wait for the notice fellas...i'm sure some '09 models will also be affected.

I agree, but the NHTSB has treated stalling as a safety related issue in the past. They forced Toyota to do a recall on the Prius at one point to do a software update for that very reason.

A recall and a permanent fix would have been better, but this is just as fine for now I guess.

Good decision making, BMW.

Has anyone received a letter in the mail confirming this yet? If so do you mind scanning it (removing any personal information of course) ?
Lots of talk about this but I'd like to know for certain.

Also, anyone know if BMW Group Canada will be following suite? I remember Acura released a warranty extension for the transmission in the 99-2003 TL in the US and Acura Canada was over a year behind them in doing the same for Canadian customers even though all the cars were made in Ohio no matter where you bought it. What's up with that? My dad's transmission blew 6k over the warranty and he paid for it out of his pocket, then one year later he gets a letter saying his warranty is extended to 160,000...

Sweet! I just called and I am under the new warranty. Great news. I was worried about a HPFP failure at the 4.1 year mark.

Mine just went out again this is getting old. When the car is brought to the dealership it is BMW policy that first they try to up grade the ecu. So basically I have to go in twice each time the pump goes out. This time the car just died on a busy freeway. It is defiantly a safety issue as I don't want to get killed by being run over by a Semi. With only 18000 miles I am on the third pump and the sixth trip to the dealer for hpfp. Yep I have had a loaner 135I convertible.128I convertible and a 128I coupe. Now I have a 335 XI coupe. I am Really glad I just leased this pos one moth left they can have it back.

I did report it to the nhtsa. I was thinking if the current hpfp failure rate continued. I would go through 30 pumps in ten years. Since it always has to go in twice for each failure that is sixty shop visits just for the pump. No thanks I have better things to do. The car gets turned back into BMW next week. That is if they can fix the windshield washer leak that drains the thing every couple days.

I have an 08' 135i and I am getting warning codes from my car's ECU. My accessport allows me to read the CEL's thank god. Great tool.
Is my 08 covered even though it's modded?

I have DP's, intercooler, DCI and exhaust.
