iPod (OEM MOST ipod interface) Report after 1 day

Well, maybe. On the 330xi, I put 2426 km on the car in the first 5 days. With the Japanrot 3er picked up on the 31st, we already have 1416 km on it in 8 days.

I inquired as to the availability of the new iPod interface for my 2006 330i (Fields BMW in Northfield, IL -- a suburb of Chicago). They told me it is coming, but not available yet and they didn't have an availability date yet. I know some people here have already installed it so it looks like its not being made available at the same time around the NA market.

I suppose at some point (if not already) it will become an option on newly purchased cars. It's nice of them to offer this as an upgrade to existing cars -- most car companies don't do this sort of thing.

Sorry did I miss something? People already have this installed? lol in my very impatient waiting I didn't realize some people have got it already. Can you point me to the thread? I'd love to hear people's feedback on it.

Ah, JSpira... I think he's got inside connection or something (j/k) to have the beta iPod interface on his car.

I don't know if anyone in the US has the kit installed or not. I can hardly wait to get my hands on one.

When I ordered my car in May, my CA quoted me $444 for the ipod adpter (installed). I can only assume this number was based on a dollar value pulled out of his butt and then doubled, and I said OK! I got the call this week that it was in (having picked up my car on July 25th when the new ipod adapter was still not available). So it looks like I might be one of the first to get it. I still have to try and make that appt for installation, and don't know how busy they will be this weekend, so I still don't know exactly when I'll get it.

It's funny. The longer it takes, the less I care about it. Right now, I couldn't care less and am just a likely not to buy it as to buy it. They should not have teased us with such an advance announcement and then not making good on the delivery.

Too much $ for too little, and too late.

I am not in Europe. I was last week for 10 days, and that happens 5-6 times a year, but my legal residence in the U.S.

I recommend double checking with the dealer that they really have the part. My last conversation with one of the product managers for this is that NO dealer has this yet. Of course, he could be wrong but he's supposed to know these things.

I was actually able to get an appointment for tomorrow at 8:00 AM, so I'm heading in, but if they can't prove to me that this is the Gen II unit that fully integrates with iDrive, I won't be letting them near my car. That's the one I paid for, and that's the one I'm going to get. If you're talking about Elijah, I saw an e-mail from him to a co-worker conbfirming it was supposed to be out "at the end of the month" that month being July...

Some part numbers here would really help, but I haven't seen anything to be completely sure it's the new one you reviewed.

No, it wasn't Elijah. It was his technical counterpart. And yes originally the units were supposed to be fully in the distribution system by end of July - so it depends when that e-mail was written.

In the U.S. there really isn't any other iPod Interface for the E90 - presumably the dealer wouldn't confuse the i-bus/CANbus interface.

They had a nice article about the iPod adapter in this months Roundel but no mention on availability or pricing.

Last week I had checked with Vista BMW where I had originaly purchased my car but they said it was not available yet!

Just for kicks after reading the article I called Lauderdale BMW in Permbroke Pines, the SA (PHIL) told me I already had teh iPod adaptr under the arm rest....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :mad:

No, he didn't. The units are not yet available to dealers.
