Performance Aero Bumper with PDC retrofit

I am going to be retrofitting front PDC to my performance aero bumper. Thanks to Realoem.com, I am well studied on the bits I'll need (willing to share any info!) EXCEPT one!

The mounting holes on the bumper.

All suggestions I have so far are flat mounts (51117209152 & 51117841902). However, if you Google this bumper with pdc, you will see the sensors are not mounted flush, they are angled and recessed. Please see below

I believe that if I mount the sensors flush, they will not be correct. I'd like to know what the part numbers are for the mounts. I'm almost certain they are not molded into the bumper! My bumper has X's to mark where the holes for PDC should be. Would appreciate any help!

Part no ending in 902 is the sensor mounting bracket. Though you can’t see the front, the lip of the bracket should be the same as the one you pictured.
Why not remove the brackets from your old bumper and attach to new bumper?

Thanks! My front M-Sport bumper does not have PDC. I am retrofitting the bumper and PDC!

This does not feel right because the part ending in .902 sit hidden, on the inside of the bumper.
Then only the PDC itself is displayed, which does not have the curved edges as OP mentioned?

with part 902, it means they would sit as follows?

I cannot see an image. I was only able to tell you tried as I'm currently quoting your message. The link in the quote isn't working atm.
I found this M-Sport in England with front PDC. Flush mounts

Here's another example of some close up PDC on an aero bumper (Still doesn't seem to be the .902 part to me)

You'll also notice the back of the clips look like they only have 2 'arms' to hold the sensor?

Part number ending in 902 is what realoem lists as the parking sensor bracket for both stock and perf bumper.
The problem is, there is no photos of how the front of the bracket so it’s hard to say if it has the extra edge.
The sensor can also be mounted flush and still work properly.

I see the first image now.

Wow two perf bumpers in one photo. Are those recent? Did you find them on the internet or in person? The part numbers of each of the four mounts are molded in them

That is an important detail, glad you noticed. Also the inner two have a flat edge and the bottom are completely round.

I cannot find it on performance in realoem, only the stock and m sport, which I think is called M Aerodynamic kit, nope M Trim, but the performance bumper is Performance Aerodynamic Kit. Notice that there isn’t a line and number on the perf bumper diagram to show the mounts.
Could you show us what leads you to believe 902 is for performance?

I don’t understand PDC technology. If I was guessing, I’d assume the purpose of the different mounts is to keep the sensors in the exact position so when the PDC coding is the same regardless of what bumper you have, it will reflect onto the screen and beep accurately.

Oh, sorry. I was using the m sport bumper for reference so never mind the 902 part, it may be the wrong one.

The sensors will all work the same.
When coding, the sensors reflect what they see to the screen and the screen works as normal.
If the 1/8” difference in position was crucial to their function, you would need to code in what bumper you have, which isn’t possible.

I found these sensors that have the lip you’re looking for.
Though they’re for a different car, they may work.

The e70 also uses brackets with that lip.

All good, definitely appreciate the search. I think that you're right about the difference being negligible. I'm searching for accuracy for now and there's been enough photos to prove that the Performance bumper has some different type of mount. If I must, I'll being using the flat mounts.

I too have been looking at others. Initially I thought that 51112221615 was the answer. I know now it's not thanks to ef2 Some others are 51118067950,51118063195, and i found the one ending in 409 also LOL. Several more but that was before I knew what the back side looked like. It should make this "easier". Perhaps, there is someone with access to the a bumper with the mounts on who could just read off the part numbers!

I did PDC retrofit and my PDC kit came with brackets for the sensors....

Where are you sourcing your PDC from?

Rebuilding the kit part by part since I cannot buy it as one assembly.
How did you buy yours?

I've been on the hunt for answers again this morning.

I've come across a different forum post where someone was trying to locate similar brackets. See image:

Someone mentioned the following:
Quote:
"I’m pretty sure they’re bonded to the inside of the bumper and can’t be bought separately. Even the official retrofit kits didn’t come with them, they just direct you to drill a hole. Would love to be wrong though."

I've also reached out to someone in BMW Parts, to see if they have an answer.. If their response is worthwhile, I will post back.

Yeah.. BMW Parts came back to me and confirmed the PDC mounts are only available when the bumper was purchased originally.

I guess this means your options are:

1. Leave the bumper without PDC.
2. Mount the flush brackets (51117841902)
3. Hold out for a replacement bumper with PDC already (Good luck!)

I concur, although I have to believe that if we had the bumper in our hands we could search the part number of each mount and possibly buy them. Like maybe Realoem would recognize it and vendors may even sell it, but never with references to any models because it isn’t illustrated.

May have to beg for someone with the bumper to remove theirs and relay that info.

Did you find the photos of the black bumpers on the web?

Images from a marketplace (old) i'm afraid, so not able to confirm if they have part numbers on.

Fingers crossed someone saves the day

This bumper shows those brackets, so they must have been made at one point, or maybe only made for that bumper.

Ef2 is right, those are about only options you’ll have.
Flush mount sensors will work with no issues.

I was able to get a retrofit kit from bimmertech a couple of years back, checked recently and saw they don't offer it anymore came with everything I needed, even the paint matched sensors.
