I can guarantee that won't cut for 2002.

For street, agree they're great tires. But they wouldn't hold up to track abuse and that's the only reason really to stuff 255 all 4 corners IMO.

I was referring to your street tire post though

What spacers are you going to use? around 10mm? Does that rub in the front stock?

How on earth is the rim not scraping the shock body? That's crazy!

My comment about sticky street was in the context of a track tire that doesn't fall under the R-comp or slick category. This thread is in reference to a track setup:

Will run a 12mm spacer up front, to make it +50 in the rear and +38 up front. Excited to get the tires mounted tomorrow, I'll take clearance pics. Will take a minor fender roll for peace of mind, but they should bolt on without any issues or rubs from the get go. I'll be sure to take weights of the factory 18s/RFTs and compare with the new setup with 255/40/17s

I should chime in on this. I am running a square 255/35r18 Conti ExtremeContact DW set up all the way around. I bought 2 rear wheels for the front to complete the square set up. I am running a 7mm spacer in the front and the alignment pin pulled for more camber. While it is clearing the strut it does rub a decent amount when I run into highspeed dips and fast off camber mountain/backroads. I have the full BMW performance suspension and the front fender is slightly rolled, and i feel like a full fender roll would get rid of the majority of the rubbing issues.

The positive is that it got rid of a large amount of understeer and made the car much more balanced. I was able to make it out to the last 2 autox events of this season and couldn't imagine it without the fat tires up front. Next year I will probably go with a autox/track dedicated wheel tire combo and stay with 255 up front but bump the rear up to 265 or 275

Agree. The car could use a 265/275 in the rear. 95% of the rub is where the front fender meets the bumper. If you pull mostly there, it will solve most of the issues. I have two hard autox on mine now and have no rubs or scrapes, so it's safe to say it's good to go.
