For street, agree they're great tires. But they wouldn't hold up to track abuse and that's the only reason really to stuff 255 all 4 corners IMO.

My comment about sticky street was in the context of a track tire that doesn't fall under the R-comp or slick category. This thread is in reference to a track setup:

I should chime in on this. I am running a square 255/35r18 Conti ExtremeContact DW set up all the way around. I bought 2 rear wheels for the front to complete the square set up. I am running a 7mm spacer in the front and the alignment pin pulled for more camber. While it is clearing the strut it does rub a decent amount when I run into highspeed dips and fast off camber mountain/backroads. I have the full BMW performance suspension and the front fender is slightly rolled, and i feel like a full fender roll would get rid of the majority of the rubbing issues.
The positive is that it got rid of a large amount of understeer and made the car much more balanced. I was able to make it out to the last 2 autox events of this season and couldn't imagine it without the fat tires up front. Next year I will probably go with a autox/track dedicated wheel tire combo and stay with 255 up front but bump the rear up to 265 or 275 |

Agree. The car could use a 265/275 in the rear. 95% of the rub is where the front fender meets the bumper. If you pull mostly there, it will solve most of the issues. I have two hard autox on mine now and have no rubs or scrapes, so it's safe to say it's good to go.
