Nav CD

Hi all,

A mate of mine has a 3 series with a nav unit. Apparently he's after a more recent version of his maps. To those who have nav, does BMW give updated CD's out or is there a cost involved?

I'm guessing he'll have to pay...

It's almost $600 from BMW. Not worth it. If you have a more recent version, just give him a 'backup' copy in case you lose your one.

If you know what I mean Or I'm happy to send you a backup of my 2010 maps just in case I break my disc.

I like your thinking jeef beef. It's a shame i dont have this disc but i'm sure he'd be happy to look after your 'back up' version...

The burnt backup copies run SLIGHTLY slower but it's barely noticeable. I run a backup copy in my car anyway and leave the real DVD in the house - don't want to risk warping a $600 disc in a car that I park in the sun.

However seeing how hot it's in Sydney these days, I'm worried about my original DVD getting damaged when left inside my house. In lieu of this, I'll send you a backup ASAP since you live in Melbourne which is cooler. Please PM me an address.

Did you guys receive your deliveries and do the disks work?

Jeef, what version is your CD? When was your car delivered? Mine was delivered July 2009, wonder if yours is newer?

Hi Jeef,

Yes - cheers. My mate got it on Christmas eve. As our work is closed till next year, i'm not sure how he got on with it.

I think his nav is different to yours (bus vs prof) but he still thinks it should work...

What version is yours? My current DVD is v14 green disc, but the only year I can see says 2004, that sounds ... ancient?

I live in melbourne and have a climate controlled, secure, underground, backup storage facility with fingerprint access control.

Guys I'm currently halfway across the world in USA so I'll have to get back to you!

Also it costs some money for me to mail disks out so I can't send out my backups indefinitely
