Some DCT questions

I ordered a 135is about a month ago and it is currently waiting to be shipped over. Only having driven for a brief time a 135i with a DCT i have a few general questions about the transmission.
- Is there a learning curve to the DCT? Should i shift the gearbox just like a i would a manual when downshifting, or would i drive it more like an automatic waiting for the RPM to drop before shifting?
- When in stop and go traffic i heard that with Dual Clutch gearboxes you are supposed to shift into manual to save wear and tear on the clutches. Is this true?
- Any other general tips with the transmission or info on my soon to be new car?

- no learning curve, IMO. Just drive it, once out of the break-in miles/kms, you can play with the Sport settings and do what is best for you.
- no, nonsense.
- you will likely be amazed at what this tranny can do. You can drive it D like a granny, or go Sport/Sport button for the gusto.

That said, even the DCT tranny is not as driver involving as the manual tranny. Your call.

Break-in shmake-in. I'm pushin' buttons and slappin' that stick all over the place during the first 1200 mi. I figure if I keep it under 5k RPM, I'm being pretty kind to the car.

I too was a little apprehensive about doing all the different configuration that are available with the DCT. I asked questions and did a lot of reading. The bottom line, for me, is that you actually do not do any gear changes yourself. The computer, I forgot its designation, does all the changing. Hopefully the designers and computer know when to change gears and not do any damage to the engine, trans... So far I have gone through various combinations with no problems just a lot of fun.
