Farewell 135i...

Well...the time has come for me to move on. As of yesterday I sold my 135i Convertible to a BMW enthusiast (E30 M3, E39 M5, E90 wagon etc.) from Kentucky. Part of me wonders if selling this car is a mistake as the E8x series cars are amazing and one day may become a cult classic. I'm glad the car is going to an enthusiast owner that will hopefully enjoy it as much as I did.

Approximately 7 years ago I picked up my 135i convertible. It was right around that time that I was introduced to 1addicts.com.

This community provided a wealth of knowledge that enabled me to personalize the car and make it my own. Its members welcomed me, answered my questions and provided a Forum to share information about this great platform (E8x). Over the last 7 years, 30k miles and countless hours of driving enjoyment I've had some really great experiences while meeting people I now consider close friends.

So what's next? I am excited that I'll be keeping it in the family. I've decided to order a 2018 M3 (Mineral Grey, Sakhir Orange leather, 6spd and Competition package).

Thanks again!

Sorry to see you go Frank, but you've been saying for a while that you were considering selling and getting something new so wasn't surprised to see this post. I've enjoyed your posts and knowledge about our wonderful little cars. Good luck with your new ride. Post up some pics when you get it and let us know how you like it. As always, enjoy seeing pics of your car and sounds like you found a nice home for her.

Esteban...Thank you, it's been a truly great experience. I've really enjoyed being a learning and sharing member of the 1addicts community. The 1 series cars are truly amazing and unfortunately they don't traditionally get nearly the recognition they deserve. I feel lucky to have owned such fun cool car.

Placing my order today and expect that I'd be getting it sometime in Jan. I'll share some pics once I get it.

Sad to see you go and we'll miss the car, try to get the new owner on here

And definitely share some pics and thoughts on the '18 M3. I'm not sure on the differences between the 17 and 18, but I loved driving the 17 on the track. Really fun car and doesn't feel like a sedan at all. I'd completely forget it had back seats if it wasn't for the extra doors.

Yeah Frank, as Matticus91 said, encourage the new owner to become a 1ADDICTS member. I'd love to hear what he thinks of your little beauty. Being a BMW enthusiast, he's probably already familiar with Bimmerpost.

I just chanced across this, though I've been here for two months or so, and I am a native of bimmerforums which seems to cater more to the e36 M3 crowd, I came here because this forum seems so active for 1s and 2s.

His car reminds me of mine, I do like the way they look in black.

Isn't that the way of things, one leaves and one joins? I can't believe the car I bought tbh, its a 2013 135i with literally every option, not sure why they didn't buy an IS but I figure I can always get a tune at some point.

Sad to see another one go, but that does not mean you are banned from posting here from now on. Congrats on the M3, I wish I could own one but now is still not the time, unfortunately. My fav BMW at the moment, 135i including.

Swagon,
Lol...thank you for not banning me. I look forward to sharing about the new car & still participating in this forum. Really excited about the seats in the competition package...they are amazing!

Welcome to the crew! Tunes wake these cars up like you wouldn't believe. I also have a loaded '13 and love it!

So...my E88 (previously Frank 135i Vert)has been gone for a little over 2 mos now. I really miss that car, but I'm excited for the next leg of my BMW journey.

The new owner in KY seems to be enjoying the car except for the fact that a straight piped 135i w DP and no resonators or muffler seems a little loud.

Hope you guys are all doing well, I thought I would share details about the new car along with what I've done so far. Below is a link to my new (not yet taken delivery of) M3.

So...thought I would stop in and see what's happening from time to time. It's only been 4 mos, but I'm Missing the little 135. That being said, I am having fun modding my new M3 and getting this new car set up the way I want. Below is a post I wrote yesterday highlighting what's been done so far.

Looks really nice Frank, and considering the way you fixed up your 1er, I wouldn't expect anything less from you. Congrats on another special car.

Congrats, also.

I traded in my 2013 135i coupe a couple of months ago, towards a new 2018 M2 6MT, which I took delivery of on Tuesday. I still have my 135is Convertible and my 1M, so the coupe was a bit redundant with those other cars.

Garage List
2013 BMW  [0.00]
I finally got the chance to drive an F80 M3 manual yesterday and I was totally blown away. I thought BMW fell off but it's relaxing to know they still can build one hell of a drivers car with a manual. That engine was a masterpiece, paired with the 6-speed manual and the rev match feature I never had so much fun in a modern BMW. It was a "plain" M3 no competition package or anything like that and it drove and felt great!

If I had to describe it in one word it would be...Stupid. The car is just so completely different than the 1 series. It accelerates violently (it surprises you). It's so planted.
Now with the Akrapovic exhaust and the crazy burbles at decel...again the word to describe it is Stupid. Man I love this car!
