Bluetooth works great for music in my 2012 135. Only problem I experience is the inability to answer a call with the answer call button on the steering wheel. Everything else works great for music or phone!

I am inclined to suggest similar divisions for our Ones, but that might result in too much repetition, so I will leave that up to you and the other major contributors.

Also, you may want to include a technical section for each Oner. This could include the following:
Torque specifications for common fasteners
Gear ratios for different tranny setups
Links to maintenance and upgrade videos -Got it!
Tire recommendations
Aftermarket parts sources -Good call I'll add some
Best OEM parts sources -Got it!
Group Buys on common upgrades, e.g., exhaust, suspension, wheels
Accuracy of onboard metrics, e.g., speedometer, tach, temp, etc
Dyno test results for common mods, e.g., Dinan, etc.
Paint codes?
Recall histories of each model
Aftermarket lighting alternatives

That's all I can think of at the moment. Hope this helps. Thanks again for working so hard on this!
Doing what I can I'm trying to be decisive with the information I include in this thread. I don't want the post to become so saturated with info that it's hard to look at. While all of these recommendations are great, I don't think I can include them all without stretching this thread too much. I'm going to sort of piece meal it for now and keep it aesthetic so when someone looks at the post they don't go "ah fak, wall of text!" lol. If you have any good aftermarket parts sources please share!

Love it Dackel, I'm going to go through these and try to create an index.

I'm not knowledgeable on the N51 so I'll need some help on that, what year was it active? Any differences in specs? Anyone who can help with this, I'd appreciate it!

One other idea that recently popped into my head: This thread should address the differences between combox and the other entertainment system options like enhanced bluetooth and whatnot. When I bought my 135i, it took some research (which was aided by the fact that I had built an incomparable number of 1-series on BMWUSA.com), but I eventually realized I needed to buy BMW's y-cable (which was garbage) or the Tune2Air bluetooth adapter which works perfectly.

Sounds totally useful, if you can type something up real quick that would be awesome, or just provide details and I'll type it out. I don't know anything about the differences of these systems

Well now, that was a damn depressing exercise. I looked up the N55 specifics this morning and edited my post above to clarify the original data as N54 specific and added in matching reference data for the N55.

The N55 platform doesn't seem to have the same injector issues that the N54 does, but with the n55 injector prices it doesn't really matter.

as an n54 owner:

Just signed up here, looking to buy an N54 1er. Hoping for space gray (or SGM) with coral int., but they seem to be damn near impossible to find with sub-60k and a reasonable price anywhere near NY.

You might be better off expanding your search to PA, NJ, CT and MA. These cars are really not common. For my last two I had to drive over 7 hours away to buy them!! Funny enough I found both in North Carolina.

Made a quick search for you, click here! No SGM's but a few good ones for sure.

Don't know if this was mentioned. However I had issues with my ABS module which I had rebuilt. Apparently it's a common issue with the N5x cars

For folks who are shopping you might include a mention of the Performance Engine Option that was offered through 2012. It included more horsepower and dual radiators, basically the 1M engine in a plain Jane 135i. It is important to note that the engine maintenance schedule is different than a stock N55. We don't want anyone accidentally screwing up the maintenance on one of these rare beasts.

Finding any particular models of these cars is impossible. You can find one that's vaguely what you want, but it's missing the (m-)sport package, or its been beat, wrong color interior/exterior, etc. I'm just forever thankful mine was in town. Just hopped on autotrader one day and there it was.

Run it with the AC on max. If it idles roughly, then you will probably need the SIB 12-15-14 update. You'll know.....it idles VERY roughly.

Kinda the same here.....you don't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need. I had been looking for a 2008, but each one I found had a flaw I couldn't overcome (smokers car, nasty interior, bank was closed that day, etc.). The last one I looked at was a 2012, newer than I wanted, but it turned out to be perfect, other than me spending $7k over budget.

My father in law has a 2008 m135i convertible, triple black with the 6mt. It has only 22k miles on it and has the front cap wrapped. It's in mint condition and has always been garaged in a southern state. Never seen winter or salt. It has no mods. I can't wait until he's finally tired of it so I can buy it from him. It will be a perfect complement to my 2017 M2 LBB 6mt with executive package!!

ain't that the truth!! Sometimes ya just gotta treat yourself.

Also another suggestion: factory options? It's pretty complex being BMW changed a lot of them around between 2008 and 2013 but a basic list is in line for this thread.

Sport Package
- Sport seats (adjustable thigh support and bolstering)
- Sport suspension
- Blackline Shadow exterior trim

M-Sport Package
- Sport package
- M Steering Wheel
- M Shift knob/boot
- M Style Wheels
- Anthracite interior trim I think?
- "Aero" Package

Correct me and add other options.

The injector part numbers are:
N54: 13-53-8-616-079 (Necessary Decoupler: 13-53-7-564-751)
N55: 13-64-7-597-870 (Necessary Decoupler: 13-53-7-577-649)

You MUST replace the decoupler when removing the injector or else the injector will not seat properly. Make sure to write down the new injector index numbers for proper coding.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that they only built 586 of the "135is" models, and that you can find out what production number a particular car is as the list is on here But again, I'm bias to my model.

The "Performance Engine Option" you are referring to is officially known of the PPK2 (Power performance kit 2). This comes standard on the 135is and includes the PPK1 software as well as the aux radiator, larger fan, and maybe a couple other things I am missing. Maintenance schedule is different and BMW has included a warning/reminder in the form of a sticker placed in the engine bay.
