exhaust meaning full(headers back) or just a catback? A jb4 car should pull a 5.0. my PES does and I would think a jb4 would make more power, but who knows.

If it's a dct equipped 135 then it'd be close stock add a tune and you should walk him. With a 6mt it'd be close with just a tune depends on launch. Same with him though.

On street tires if he's a good driver it's very capable of high 12's. that's if he can launch it. If you're going from a roll he's probably going to pull you a little as well, again, only if he can really bang gears.

mustangs are pigs. my buddy just got a muffler delete on his 2011 boss 302 and the thing handles like a sloppy school bus haha. my car (135i)just has bolt ons and a cobb and it will toast the mustang
chevys are where it's at. don't let anyone ever tell you their mustang is fast unless they have a blower in it haha |

Careful now, the 302 and the SS 1LE have faster lap times than the M3, 1M and M5. I'm not a fan of either for other reasons, but they aren't bad at all with the right packages. On the street with regular drivers it may be a different story though.

What gears does he have? 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73? Those do make a bit of a difference. I personally ran against a showroom stock '11 5.0 (a few months after they were on the roads in July of 2011) and the guy knew how to drive and was running consistent 12.7-12.8s. I don't remember the MPH but I would say around the 108 range.
I'd say it might be a drivers race but I would go ahead and get the the JB4/Cobb. Now for the Boss handling like a sloppy school bus....maybe thats because it has a SRA compared to the IRS most cars have now a days but with that being said it outperforms the M3/1M on a road course like Vorsprung_CJB said. That's a track with lots and lots of turns, ya know? The 1LE is awesome and I'd rather have that than the POS ZL1. And the Boss was produced from 2012 - 2013, not 2011. |

Boss 302 and a regular ole' 5.0 are two very very different cars, and shouldn't be subbed for either in a basis of comparison.
Anyways, I've taken many 5.0s, even eeked out a win on one running a supercharger. Alot of times depends on driver mod, they're respectably fast though. I'm FBO and running meth though, so YMMV. I'd get that JB4 and at least DPs to be confident. |
